Anyone know of a source for replacement cylinders other than original equipment. I have been told that Kubota cylinders are all by themselves. Need to replace both of my front end loader lift cylinders on an oldie but a goodie. L245DT with sticker on the loader framework that says it is a 1200 model FEL .

Can they be rebuilt? If it's just seals leaking that shouldn't cost very much. I did some on my Bobcat mini x and it cost $20 per cylinder for seals.

If you know all the specifics, You can find quite a lot, over at surpluscenter.com. No, I am not affiliated with them, as this is the second post, with that same answer. And No, I didn't stay at a holiday in last night...:D:D

For the ignorant among us (certainly me), other than the kit, how best to go about getting what you need? Seems to me that there either must be a general parts reference somewhere to identify rings/seals by part number or dimension. Or you pull it down and take it to your local purveyor of such parts (if there is one) and let them figure out what you need, and hope they both get it right AND have it in stock for a decent price. At least that's been my past experience on such things. Is there a reference to help?

I ask because the I've got the two main (inverted) cylinders on my B2150 (loader numbers are long faded and gone) that weep themselves dry even with the pressure relieved. They work just fine and don't leak noticeably in use, but long overdue for a rebuild, and I hope to get that done soon. Bucket tilt seems ok, but I'll probably do them at the same time.

The shaft on my cylinder has a deep gouge almost the entire length, so a rebuild kit is out of the question. I have spoken with a shop that rebuilds cylinders and that fella quoted me $ 360 just for the replacement shaft plus what ever the cost of a kit and his labor. He also said that aftermarket cylinders will not work on a Kubota. I find it hard to believe ! Anyhow , it would be senseless to replace one or rebuild one cylinder on the front end loader lift. If it was the bucket curl I would think that a single cylinder rebuild could work but the weight of the front end loader assembly plus the weight of what ever I was moving in the bucket, needs to have both cylinders of equal strength or else I would imagine that I would have twisting and lifting problems.

There's a place in my little town in TN that builds Hyd cyl's for some big name companies... Look up Dalton Hydraulics. They make cylinders from scratch... They can probably hook you up.. Pricing I have no idea about... :)
