Hydraulic control on B5000 wont drop

Hello, fairly new to tractors and I have my first B5000 for my paddock.

The hydraulic control lever will happily lift but when I try to drop it I get a screeching noise and wont drop. Any one any experience of this and any advice?

My apologies, Im very new to this and this forum so far has been amazing for advice.

Is there a round knob (hydraulic control valve) on this model under the front of the seat that is done up tight?

Not that I could see but there is a bolt which I released and the lifter dropped, it now appears to work just fine so I dont know if that released something inside but thankfully it appears to be working. Im going to see about changing the fluids etc as the tractor has been sat for a couple of years.
