hydraulic angle control on snow blade

I had a local fabricator attach a 6 1/2 ft. snow blade to the FEL on my new L2501 with a quick attach plate. He put on two new cylinders and hoses to run the angle of the blade. The new hoses for the angle are now plugged into where the two hoses that control the tilt for the FEL. The problem is it will angle one way only no matter how I hook up the hoses. What could possibly be wrong or do I have something missing. Thanks Terry

I ran into a similar problem. It was because of the "regen" feature on newer machines. If that is your problem, then the fix is a double acting cylinder on just one side of the blade frame.

How so? The 2501 doesn't have a dpf.

I have single action cylinders or I assume they are because of only one hose hook up.
I did find the regen or regenerative function article below:

http://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12444&highlight=regen

I did try several times yesterday pushing the joystick to the far right because the fabricator called and suggested that but I had no results. I will give it another try after some coffee. Thanks for the suggestions. I am sure it may be something simple.

Do you know if the fast dump worked when you had the fel on? If not maybe the joystick linkage needs to be adjusted. You might be able to tell now, when you go to the regen position you should be able to tell if the cylinder is getting pressure. The hydraulics should make some noise if deadheaded and the hose should move a little when pressurized. If its not the linkage, it may be a valve problem.

It is definitely working as the hoses move with hydraulic noise, thanks I am going to the barn now to try some more.

mito,
From all I've read you have 3 choices.
One (easiest): Change the cylinders to dual action cylinders
Two: Install an electrically controlled valve (not just a diverter valve)
Three: Install a separate manual control valve or use the rear remotes to run the blade angle.

I believe all the "L" models have 3-way valves, thus regen is active 100% of the time. Why Kubota (and JD on models) are doing this is beyond me, but it's putting the screws to a lot of people.
Just as Kenny has said, the std L models have a 3 position curl circuit, curl up, neutral and fast dump(regen). (Also look at the decal for the loader control and the owner's manual) A diverter valve will not ever work properly with this system, no matter what cylinders are used. You can use the lift circuit (easiest and cheapest solution) or go to a different type of control.

Good luck ;)

Just some more info on this very subject. Keep in mind! The tractor I was working on had regenerative hydraulics, but did NOT have a "regen" position on the valve. see post #8 in the above link
So in post #8, are you saying that your plow hydraulics work properly, or just that they work? The plow should angle left and right at the same speed. Don't know how that is possible when one direction is always in the regen mode.

Yes, the plow angles just fine both directions equal.
Keep in mind that the rod side of the cylinder has less volume.

Regen mode in this case is no different than the two bucket tilt cyl's.
The only thing regen does (in this case) is to keep the piston side of the tilt cyl's. full when you dump a heavy load.

My 1979 L245DT has a loader with open center control valve and no hyd. regen. When I dump a heavy bucket full the weight of the material causes the tilt cyl's. to extend so fast that you have to wait for the oil to catch up.

What I would like to find out Monday from the dealership is how does Kubota control their front snow plow. I remember seeing one in the literature when I was shopping for the tractor but am unable to find any info now. I am just glad we are having a mild winter so far here in Michigan. Thanks again everyone for their ideas and suggestions. Terry

So you are using a single DA hydraulic then? I still don't see how you figure it works fine though? One side gets full flow when the joystick is moved to the left. Move the joystick to the right and both sides of the cylinder get full pressure. Yes the larger side over powers the rod side, but how can it operate at the same speed as when the joystick is moved to the left???

The reason that regen works fine on a loader is because of the weight pulling down on it. Dump the bucket when it is empty, it is painfully slow. With the plow, there is no weight pulling down on it, I just don't see how it is the same speed in each direction. But I guess that I am wrong. :)

They probably use their 3rd function which is a true 3rd function, not a diverter valve 3rd function.
