What is your guess as to what it is? I'll get the video from the card later this week and post it up.

I grabbed the files off the card today. Unfortunately, whatever this was didn't stick around after shoving its face in the camera.

I did however get a video of a raccoon and after comparing the white eyebrows of this picture to the one in the video, I'm thinking it was the same.

I also got a video of a coyote (what I'm looking for) and a Bob Cat that no one in the area thought there could be one.

Kubota did its part this deer season—picture below is me and my 17 yo son cleaning the buck he shot this afternoon.

Proud of the boy! Because of football season going deep into playoffs, working every chance he can for his grandfather at the hardware store, and crappy weather he hasn’t had much chance or success this season. Finally cold weather, he shot this little 6 point below the shop on the last afternoon of regular rifle season here.

His mother took this picture from the porch and just showed me, I didn’t even notice she was up there but what an amazing photo, had to post. Any man who has taught a son or daughter how to respect game and properly clean your quarry will get it:

I have small but regular population of black bears that visit my oak savanna habitat project. I have photographed one in person , but the bulk are caught on trail cameras.

This capture was fun to see the bear scratching his back.

Speaking of game cameras...

My wife had been wanting some around the house to see the critters, but I didn't want the expense of a cell connection, and all "WiFi" cameras pretty much only connect to your phone, not a legit WiFi connection. I'm also too lazy to go wandering around the woods, swapping out SD cards. I stumbled across the new GardePro Link 1.0 system that creates it's own wireless signal and connects to your home network/internet. It's supposedly good for 1000'+ distances for connections, but I'm only running mine a few hundred feet from the house.

She's been very pleased with her Mother's Day present, and the app is pretty simple to view pictures/videos/settings, etc. Pictures and night vision are good quality, despite being on some of the lower settings currently. Definitely looking to add more of these after trying this one out.

No, I don't have any affiliation with the company or anything, just a product that filled a need we had, despite being from China.

Nice looking legal bear Ken. Good for you to have them hanging around.

What is the cost on a camera like that?

$225 with the camera, WiFi hub and solar panel for charging. The internal battery is removable though and can plug into a USB-C charger if sun isn't available.

That’s a dude @Killer Bee

No nice velvet this year to be seen this year but this big healthy boar showed himself 200 yards from the cabin a few weeks ago;
IMG_4873.jpeg
Last time I saw him on camera was early fall last year up on top of the ridge, glad to see he’s still around and healthy as can be.

I don’t hunt bears and personally wouldn’t ever shoot one I just hope to see one in person someday. Nothing against bear hunting—their population needs to be managed to maintain a healthy density—I just want to see such an amazing animal. Amazes me that such a large creature is so smart and wary that we rarely see them in the wild in the Ozarks.

I've only seen one bear in my life at our farm in lone jack (where rooster cogburn lost his eye btw 😉 ). juvenile size and he was scurrying up a fallen tree and off to the neighbors property before I could get closer. and probably for my own good. 😀

but you be careful down there. I've got kin along north Arkansas and we heard about a man attacked on his tractor grading his road not too long ago, and he didn't make it.

like you, I don’t plan to kill a bear, but I'd be ready to if not left a choice. 🍻

When in North Arkansas I don't fear bears... Banjos, now that's a whole other matter!

The little back bears are so warm a fuzzy.
Now a grizzly and you're talking one heck of a good reason to retreat fast!

two killed by black bears in Arkansas last year.

70lb juvenile killed this man

dragged and found dead

while rare, not something I would ignore. first thing a lot folks do is criticize victims for lack of awareness, prep, stupidity, or combination of all three. I like to be prepared and pay attention, can't do much about the third.

as for big mean bears, I keep my distance from them too. 🍻

kodiak.. like a grizzly but get much bigger. 😮

by this point, car was started, pointed towards road out, and my door open.

Is it true some of those backwoods banjo pickers have trap doors in their long johns?

It would be more accurate to criticize those feeding bears BEFORE victim encountered the bears.
