I can't seem to find a comfortable spot, or spots to put my foot. Keeping my boot totally on the rocker, is not good my knee is too bend and high. And when I place my heel on the floormat I push "forward" then want "reverse", I have to lift up my heel to find the pedal, it is not a very smooth transition. There is just barely enough room for my regular work boots (13) to fit between the "ears" of the rocker, no way is there room to operate with pack boots. Am I missing something?
Does anyone make an aftermarket "kit" to change to the two pedal control that all you have to do is pivot on your heel? Thanks

The 4240 is the 4th HST tractor I've had. All were similar in layout. I have used a Montana at work with separate side-by-side pedals, and like that arrangement less.

My leg doesn't tolerate twisting enough to keep my foot totally on the rocker. I wear size 13 and 14 and usually don't have problems using the front of my foot for forward and slipping back using my heel for reverse. The exception is with a pair of "sloppy big" boots the can snag.

You'll get used to it. I wear a size 15 and have owned the following HST treadle-pedal Kubotas: B2920, L2501, MX4800, L4060. It soon becomes second nature. I hated it first, doesn't bother me at all now.

I have never had a problem, but can say with a size 10 shoe after reading this thread I am starting to have a size complex, in more ways than one!

I put my toe behind the pedal and pull to go backwards. Never did like using my heel.

^^^ I do the same as @Square Nail, I put my toe in front of the fwd pedal and pull it back to reverse. I also worry im going to mash the reverse pedal when i climb onto the machine one of these days. not a fan of the pedal set up either.
