Hi Everyone,

I'm about to post a how-to on my Back toolbox etc. I don't see any way to control size of photos or any side-by-side arrangements.

Also is there any way to add captions? I have Photoshop etc. but was hoping there are capabilities I do not understand..

I have used other Wikis etc. that allow more formatting.

OTHER: Every time an ad pops up while posting it grabs the cursor focus away. Any fix for that?? I look at the keyboard when typing!

Thanks! Terry

I’m not a techie by any means. I use this site exclusively with my phone so maybe there are more capabilities using a computer. From my experience, editing functions are pretty basic.
  • Don’t know of any way to arrange photos into side by side, etc. I only know of two ways to post photos here:
    • Default puts thumbnails at the end of the post. That’s where they always are when you attach them.
    • After the photos are attached, you’ll see an option for “Full Image”.
    • If you’ve uploaded multiple photos there will be an option at the top of the attachments section to “Insert All - Full Image”.
    • “Full Image” puts the full size photo in the text section of the post so you can have a sequence with text / photo / more text /another photo…
    • They’re ordered in the order you selected them for upload. I haven’t found that to be 100% consistent. If I’m loading numerous pics for a narrative, I’ve found it more efficient to load them individually as I need them in the story to ensure they are in the right order.
      • Type text. Load one photo. Click on the “Full Image” option for that photo. It should appear below the text.
      • Type additional text below the photo. Load another photo. Click on “Full Image”. Photo appears below the second round of text.
      • Repeat until your chain of photos and text is done.
    • There’s a limit on quantity of photos per post. I think it’s 7. Not sure. If you have too many, you just have to make multiple posts. Labeling “Part 1”, “Part 2”, etc. seems to help folks know there’s more on the way so they don’t make as many silly responses based on incomplete information.
  • If ads are irritating use an ad blocker or use Brave or Duck Duck Go as your browser with this site. I hear paying members see fewer ads but no experience so 🤷‍♂️. I use Duck Duck Go for this site so I don’t see ads here. There have been a few threads on the ad issue in the Site Suggestions section that provide more info if desired.

Use other software to edit the photos.
And you might need to look at ad block?

Make the HowTo a PDF file and attach it to a post. You get much better formatting and it's easy to download for someone wanting to use/save it.
