Just got my first Kubota tractor last week. It is an L185 I am running a blade on the front with down pressure and a landscape rake on the 3ph. The hydraulic system seems to lag a bit in raising/lowering and is squealing a little. I suspect it may be slightly low on fluid? Where do I check the fluid level and/or top it off? I have been warned not to overfill.

I am new to this website, as soon as I see how to post pictures I will put up a picture.

To fill your L185 you have a plug on the side of the transmission just about half way up near the the clutch pedal and the top fill near the gear shift.

Remove the side plug and set it near by, open the top fill and then fill the transmission until fluid comes out the side plug. You just topped off the transmission.

But wait. When was the transmission last serviced? if you do not know I would service it and clean the screen as it should really be done every 500 hours or once a year if it has set out side.

That is also fairly easy as you just look at the bottom of the transmission and you will see the drain plug. You simply remove the fill plug and the drain plug and drain it. To service, clean the screen just look where the hydraulic line comes into the transmission and remove the bolts and pull out the screen carefully and clean it with diesel, take a close look at the condition of the o-rings and if they are OK then reinstall them and then fill the transmission as described in the first 2 paragraphs.

Thanks Micheal, This gives me what I need to check it out. The tractor shows 880hrs. on the meter and it is supposed to be accurate. Tin is all straight and the tractor does not appear to be abused.
