I have a Kubota R530 and I'm trying to compress the clevis spring enough to screw the step bolt back into the clevis. Any advice y'all can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have no idea what you’re asking but you may want to get five posts done and then you can post a picture of the problem.

What kind of advice? DIY tips? you can find a youtube video to follow. You may need a spring compressor tool. These tools are adjustable and can fit a variety of spring sizes.

I would try this
put the spring onto the #50 part and then use the bolt #20 with a washer to compress the spring. Then use string or wire in three or four spots to hold the spring in a compressed state. Remove the bolt, install the part #30 and the bolt and tighten the bolt, then remove the retaining string or wire.

welcome.... as a new member there are a lot of friendly people here that are glad to help out and discuss things with.

The spring is fairly small in length but stout. try compressing in a bench vice. A couple of zip ties. assemble and nip the zip ties off. Worst case zip ties not strong enough and you could use something like stainless zip ties or armature wire. Clearance is tight though.

If no bench vice then a McGiver nut/bolt/washer concoction will compress so you can tie/wire it up but washers get in the way.

I love the R Series wheel loaders.

cheers and good luck!

I like the bench vise suggestion.

possible option...
use a drill press. upside down, you tighten bolt though the hole in the table.
however you do it, be sure it's secure, else you'll be on your hands and knees looking for 6 parts, find 5 and use a lot of 4 letter words...... ;)

Can you.... assemble in place, use a block of wood under the pin, compress the spring (lowering the loader) and get the bolt in?

I don't understand your struggle???
I've put together a bunch of SSQA latches and never had one that I couldn't hand compress to get the bolt threaded into the clevis.

I've ordered this tool hopefully it will help keep it compressed while assembling.
That spring compressor will not work.
Too many parts in the way!

First make sure the bolt threads into the clevis smoothly.
Then put the assembly together and with a long extension on a ratchet stand over the bolt press down and start the bolt into the clevis.

If it's still assembled, block the latch pin from coming out the bottom, pull the lever down to compress the spring and tighten the bolt.
