how to adjust rear tire clearance for RCK60B-22BX on a BX23 MLB

If the predecessor of the BX23S was the BX23, then what was the BX24 or BX25? I had a BX22 which was the predecessor of the BX23, then came the BX24, and then the BX25, then the BX23S and today we have the latest BX tractor, loader, backhoe known as the BX-1 or BX23S-1


If x = 5, then predecessor of 5 is 5-1 = 4. If x = 10, then predecessor of 10 is 10-1 = 9. If x = 20, then predecessor of 20 is 20-1 = 19. If x = 50, then predecessor of 50 is 50-1 = 49. If x = 100, then predecessor of 100 is 100-1 = 99.

My point was that there was, in fact, a BX23.

What is this? Jeopardy? Whatever dude.

I never disputed that there was a BX23. Just that there was never a BX23 Series.
The BX23 was basically the same tractor as the BX22, except that the loader valve was no longer removable. It had been made part of the machine itself. It is important to be precise when talking about a particular model, and the Series of tractors. What might apply to one model, might not apply to the next model. Kubota uses "Series" to differentiate between tractor sizes, and then there are multiple models within the series. An example of confusion came when I went to the dealer to buy an oil filter. I told the person behind the counter that I needed an oil filter for a BX23S, and he went to the shelf and got the filter. When I got home, it was the wrong filter. It was for a BX23, not a BX23S. This simple error meant another trip to the dealership.
Now, getting back to the mower deck problem. The height adjustment knob that is below the seat just to the left of the center, might be hanging up. The best thing to do is to remove the deck, and then see if the knob will move smoothly when you turn it. If it doesn't, then get under the tractor and give it a shake to see if it is hung up on a piece of the framework. The mower deck hangs down on a rod on each side, which is to allow it to move up and down as the tractor moves across the turf. This is part of the anti-scalp feature of the mower deck. Once the mower deck is off the tractor, move it to a concrete floor, and check to see if it might have a twisted deck. If the deck has become twisted, it is difficult to get it back into alignment. If it is slight, you sometimes can adjust it but you will not get the flat cut that it originally had.

As already stated, there is a BX23 MLB. That is on the identification plate of this tractor. And, it is confusing. When I buy parts, at Messick's for example, I have to click on a BX23D. So...there ya' go.

I love the picture of your grandmother, dirtydeed. Perhaps I, too, can still enjoy tractoring for a very long time, too. It will be this same tractor since I wouldn't be able to buy another! Actually, it was wonderful that I was able to get this one, despite needing to learn so much to use it and repair it.

I have one of the same model BX23MLBs as you do my mower deck is a RCK54-22BX id the 54" version as your 60" model deck you have the correct deck for the tractor. I too have to order parts for the BX23D on Messick's website to get the correct parts. They are great little tractors they just don't have all the bells and whistles that the new BX23s tractors do.

I know my 2018 BX23S has the cover on it, no MMM, and for 1100 hrs over 5 years , it's gone where it probably shouldn't have and ZERO damage to the fan. It's possible the same fan cover will fit your BX23D.

As for the MMM deck, it's possible someone installed the 'wrong' one.

An HST fan cover. Who knew? I purchased the Bxpanded Under Armor. Had I known...well, maybe.

This is an old thread but after reading, I had to smile. I had found the bent rod of the mower lift several months ago and hadn't addressed it. Since then, I have removed both the backhoe and the mower. With those monstrosities out of the way, I can see a bit more of the underside of the tractor and can actually get under there to do some things. I removed the bent rod and have straightened it. I'm not ready to put the mower back on yet but, when I do, it will be interesting to see if there is any difference of proximity to the rear wheels and the actual leveling of the mower. The metal guard at the front had been bent badly so I removed that, too. Before long, this little treasure will be in good shape! I had gotten a new set of blades but am debating as to whether to sharpen the old ones to complete this mowing season. Meanwhile, I'm still trying to address a leak of HST fluid which has been driving me crazy since I got this thing. There is a crack in the HST housing and I just can't seem to get it fixed. I hate having to put a catch pan under the tractor after every use and then to add fluid prior to using it each time. The prior owner must've been harder on this machine than I had realized. It's possible that something was hit with the right front of the mower to bend the mower shell and the rod on the left side. And, maybe that same object hit the underside of the HST housing at the same time. Don't know but it is certainly possible. BUT, I'm happy to have it. It's done a lot of work for me so far. With all the help and suggestions I've gotten here, quite a few of the issues the tractor came with have been remedied. And, I've learned so much! More thanks to all who've contributed.

You may be able to get an ultraviolet dye to put in the oil that will help you identify where the leakage starts. The sell kits with the dye, glasses and light for engine oil and other automotive products so you may have to research it a little bit to see what is compatible
