New guy here. New Kubota owner too (LX2610 this past weekend).

I know with a front end loader, more ballast is recommended for the rear end. Just how much should I have, and is there a point where there is too much ballast ?

Looking forward to conversing with you all !

800 would be good ..... which is what your FEL is rated at full height

Can't never have to much rear ballast, but don't want to kill your tractor also. Typically FEL users fill the rears with ballast and then may add a ballast box to the rear 3-pt or possibly attach a rear finish or rotary mower. If you are concerned about to much weight causing damage to the lawn, don't load tires and just use a weight box (filled) when using the FEL. That way can remove the ballast box. Did not mention if you have a quick attach bucket on loader, or it you remove the loader if mowing. Alot of of different issued depending on you you use your tractor.

The proper amount of rear ballast will be a function of what you're trying to do with the loader, its limits, and the tractor's limits. That said, adding weight to the rear tires will improve traction and hold the back wheels on the ground. Adding a mower or a ballast box on the three point will actually counter balance the weight of the loader. I've not loaded my tires. I've found a ballast box adequate so far.

750-800lbs is my recommendation. You can get the rear tires filled as well which will reduce the ballast that you need on the 3 point hitch.

Weight will also be limited by the ballast box you select. I have a Titan cat I ballast box and fill it with bags of fine gravel, total weight when full of the steel box plus gravel is 600 lbs, that works well for me on my L3901.

Good feedback thus far. Yes, the tires are loaded and it does have a quick-attach bucket. I take delivery in a couple weeks and will have to experiment with a back blade I currently have.

I believe the LX2610 uses the BH77 backhoe, same as on my L2501. The weight of the backhoe is about 850 lbs. I am not sure what the subframe weighs. It definitely makes good ballast.

The BH77 also ranks as the most expensive form of ballast but it does have some other benefits 😉

I despise ANY/ALL 'loaded' tires. eventually you'll get a thorn or nail in the tire and the 'load' comes out. I have a weight skid, that the 'carryall' can lift when extra weight is needed. It comes off in 15 seconds, unlike '3ph ballast boxes'.
One problem with loaded tires is it's there 24/7, so if you mow the lawn, that's extra weight packing down the turf and compacting the soil.

700-800 lbs is what you need to do max loader work. I have a little over 700lbs ballast box on my B2650 and can do max loader work with that amount of ballast and is nice and stabil.
