Just curious if anybody has done the math on how much it costs to operate a MX5400 for one hour.

Texas Ag custom rates show about $50 an hour to rent. Does not include fuel or operator. A real rate would depend on hours per year, and such fixed expenses as insurance.

well....
that's an open ended question............
cost AFTER the purchase? cost of fuel?

you would have to take cost of the machine - divide by the hours... fuel.... etc....
I would think EVERY hour would be cheaper than the previous hour

I burn approximately 1 gallon per hour of diesel.
approx $1000.00 every 200 hours for a full service.
grease every 10 hours
Safe to assume $10/hr just for consumables
You also need to consider the capital cost of the machine over its useful lifespan (10,000-20,000 hours?), the cost of money tied up in the asset for it's lifespan,...

If you need numbers call around to see what the machine rents for. Rental companies generally only hang onto equipment as long as they are generating income and not becoming money pits in terms of repairs and maintenance.

I agree I would think rental companies have already done the math with some added so they make money on the rental. Good baseline to start with though I believe.

Rental companies also take advantage of depreciation then profit at the sale.
