Some wonder how many hours can be expected from a diesel engine. This article shows a 120F Volvo listing 74K hrs. 621B Case with 49,700 hrs.

This Deere shows 24,252 hrs.

I'm sure it depends a lot on how well they were maintained, what kind of conditions they were used in, and if they saw a lot of hard use.

We had a Marion dragline back in the 60s and 70s with a 3-71 Detroit Diesel for power, and we finally had to overhaul it at ~22,000 hours because it wouldn't start unless you gave it a shot of starting fluid.
