My 2002 L3710 is approaching 2,000 hours on the meter.I bought it last year with 1,960 on it and have tried to keep the hours down as much as I can but I like to play on it !! How many hours do you guys think is too many and when can I expect things to start wearing out? It has been fairly well maintained and has been stored outside since I bought it.What besides regular maintenance can I do to make it last as long as possoble? Thanks in advance for your replies.

I've got some kubota powered light towers with 10,000 plus hours on them and still going strong ;) I wouldn't worry about 2000 hours. Just make sure and take care of it, and you'll have plenty of hours to play.... er......... work!!!! :D:D

I'd suggest you find something else to absorb your concerns. Keep oil and water in the correct places, dirt, grime and grass out of everything and be sure to have a clear statement in your will who you want your tractor to go to! Unless you're using it commercially it will probably out last you. :D

Yup, do what these guys have recommended regarding maintenance, servicing and operating. The only things I would add is proper warm ups and cool downs and also, if possible, get it under a roof!

It's possible the FEL hoses will need replacing before long. When the first hose starts leaking, the others are not far behind. Best to replace them all when that happens.

Find it a home inside and it will last a lot longer. Imagine leaving your Chevy outside with no hood on it to protect the motor and parts. That is essentially what a tractor is, an exposed drive train with minimal coverage. Rust alone, not to mention seals attacked by UV and temperature will pose issues later.

Agree with CCRoy - keep inside when not in use - do the fluids as needed and pray a same-minded soul will do the same when they inherit ;)

I miss my 402!

It does have a nice home inside, but not until last year.It sat outside till then and it shows.I try to keep all my stuff inside including my 22" car hauler but only have so much space.Told the wife I need another garage, she just laughs.

So does mine,it was a factory bored 396 but they still called it a SS 396.
You've got as good of taste in cars as you do tractors so I'm surprised you're even pondering the hours and what a waste to let that Kubota sit for that reason. If you're over 40 now with children anywhere near half your age they will be the one's who MIGHT finish wearing it out but certainly not you if it's not abused and maintained properly given the care it should get and operate it sensibly not driven like you stole it.

I've got a 64 El Camino sitting ahead of the Kubota in the garage with a tired old ticking 283 that I should be busy pulling out and replacing it with the 502 sitting on the stand instead of sitting her on the computer now.

If I told my wife that she sure wouldn't laugh at me cause she knows dam well I'd have her car outside in the snow the rest of the winter..been there done that she learned her lesson well LOL!

As far as space allows there are a lot of cargo containers for sale, some of which are pretty high well over 6 foot maybe closer to 7, and the cost is not as much as building a new pole building and you get doors you can lock too
