How many customers does the treadle pedal cost Kubota?

It took me an hour or two to get used to mine, but now it's become 2nd nature, so much so that, when I drive a manual (ancient David Brown), it takes me a few minutes to get used to it and not feel for the back-up pedal...

N.Y,
How would you do that on a BX, given the position of the pedals, unless you're a contortionist? The more so as you have to put it in neutral if you want to get off...
I did it. E brake on my BX never worked right and could pop off anytime. Downhill going into my garage and I parked the BX to open the door. I heard the E brake pop off before I got the door open and the BX was rolling forward when I turned around. Jumped on it and went to slam the brake on. Foot slipped off the brake and hit the accelerator pedal hard because I was only half on. Right through a 12 x 12 $2500.00 insulated garage door. I was surprised how easily that door crinkled and ripped off the tracks. Boy did I hurt the next day. After that I cut a 4x4 wedge to put under the tire when stopped because the e brake on it was garbage from new.

While shopping for my first tractor I looked at a BX and remember jumping on and right off because of the pedal. No interest at all. I don't remember exactly what the pedal looked like, but my foot refused to consider that tractor. I have used small tractors with dual pedals and I could probably get used to them.

I have owned a small 2WD Cub 154 LoBoy gear trans, a Ford 1210HST, as well as B7500HST, L3200HST & L4240 HSTC Kubotas. Can't remember what the pedals looked like on them but none were difficult to use. The 4240 pedal looks like the one in Post #3. There is no need for brake-assisted turning anywhere I operate. Heck I don't need the brake to stop. The brake pedal is almost exclusively used to set and release the parking brake.

The cruise control in the MX is mechanical and when engaged it also moves the treadle peddle. Since the cruise control lever only moves in one direction, it makes sense that it can only move the peddle in one direction. Short version is no cruise control for reverse with the MX. The much fancier L60 tractors might have an electronic cruise control that works for F and R but someone else will have to chime in on that.
Yep…I would also note that IME, when need to immediately take the throttle lock off, it is not a natural reaction to reach for the lever in the left side of the arse. I don’t use it daily so it still is not natural to immediately reach left to grab the lever. Just my experience. That being said it sure is nice to have though mowing a pasture or driving down the road. (My natural reaction is apply foot on brake, but that doesn’t kick the throttle lock off…at least not on mine)

I never thought twice about the pedal. I didn't hesitate buying my BX2380 years ago ... nor my recently purchased L3902.

I hate the damn pedal on my 2150. If i hadn’t bought a unused 34 year old bota at a great deal? Never would have happened. I wouldn’t buy a new one just because for 60 years i am used to normal tractors of all different brands. But than again wouldn’t buy emissions junk either.
I am sure those that haven’t run 10-20-30 other tractors it wouldn’t bother. So 2 way street. Opinions are like…. Well u know what 🤣

Not sure on the BX pedals but on an L as you put you foot over the hump you can step on the treadle before you get into the seat.

Neutral on a hydrostat?

Back when I was planting research plots, I needed to turn around on a dime to plant the next four rows. "Brake steering" did NOT work when I was in 4x4. It just bounded up the transmission... granted it was a bigger and heavier tractor. Brake steering was mainly for 2 wheel drive tractors.

I have cruise control so I can use ONE of my brakes to make sharp turns (using both brakes, kicks out the CC) but with HST, it's so easy to do a two point turn with the treadle pedal that spinning on a dime isn't needed. Pretty sure 4x4 and turning brakes don't play well with each other on my "standard" L.

When I did use gear transmission, it was mainly on a 2x4 tractor (which I much preferred to use to plant tests).

I like my treadle pedal but when I get tired of it... I use my hand on the cruise control...

As mentioned above I prefer the treadle peddles I have, but I am curious…For those that have grievance on the treadle peddle, would you rather have geared? Why not buy the geared?

I replaced a 26 year old gear JD and they are not good for mowing and loader work in tight areas. Love my new 2 pedal Kioti. Very easy on my ankle with just a slight twist to reverse.

Deere's twin pedal system cost me a lot of money. Went to hit the pedal and slipped to the opposite one, sent tractor through the barn door.

Kubota's pedal is a LOT easier to deal with in that sense. To me it's just a lot more natural to rock your foot backwards to go backwards, rock your foot forwards to go forwards.

The better question here is, how many sales does that pedal cost, versus how many sales are gained by the same pedal?

I have used other machines including the ol cub-cadets with the FORWARD/BACKWARD lever on the dashboard. (YUKKK)

The Kubota treadle-peddle is BY FAR the most intuitive means to control FORWARD/BACKWARD of the machine. After using it for a couple hours the machine becomes an extension of my own body simply moving where I THINK it to move.

The major problem I had with the treadle pedal on my B2910, when I bought it 22 years ago and used it a lot in the first year, was that I developed problems backing up my Ford E350 van...

Damn van would not back up when I pushed on the floor with my right heel! I kept having to remember to move the lever on the steering column so the pointer would point to R!
