Just be careful nothing catches fire...I am positive hundreds of tractors have gone up in flames by warming in a similar manner.
Years ago a co-worker caught fire while warming himself in front of a kero gun heater. The knees of his Carhartts were frayed badly and it didn't take very long for him to dance around smacking his leg. He escaped physical injury but suffered a lot of ribbing.

I copied the page from the manual which shows warm up times at various outdoor temps, keep it in the tractor and follow it closely. It is not the engine but the transmission which is vulnerable to inadequate warmup and I do not want any issues with my new M7040.

I would say that's a smart move Dave. While everyone has a opinion on the matter a few $$$ of fuel used during warm up will probably save you thousands in repair cost down the road.

I don't recall any warmup times in the owners manual but in real cold weather I plug in the block heater for 1-2 hours before start up then go back inside for another cup of coffee with the throttle at 1/3 to 1/2. My kubota sits in an enclosed but unheated barn.
The colder it is, the better the coffee tastes, and the longer the tractor runs to warm up.
