I know this is an old thread but since I am the one that started it I think I can revive it. My battery finally went dead today. It lasted 12 years and 10 months. I bought a new one from O'Reilly's auto parts for $118.25 after the 10% Military discount The battery I bought is linked below. I hope that this one lasts as long as the original battery did.

I just placed mine back on the Noco ........... year 12 + 6 months ......... so bad luck is coming my way????

I wish you luck on that my man…... (y) However I have never been able to replicate the longevity of “OEM Batteries”.

As stated previously, If I was putting numbers on it, I would say that I get 7-8 years out of a “factory battery”, and only 3-5 out of “after market” ones.

But I pretty much stick to "Wally World” batteries, so that probably factors in.

I have often wondered if the reason that a “factory battery” lasts so long is related to the way they are installed?????……..(i.e. cleanliness or proper toque….or some other installation technique/procedure)

My thought is that inventory control has the batteries installed fresh and fully charged. Stores might have them on the shelf for a long time and I have never seen them charging batteries. I just bought a new battery from a local battery store and it took all night to get a full charge plus the code date was removed.

Actually, I don't consider 12+ years as bad for battery longevity, especially since I never did anything to try to maintain it. I never put it on a charger or maintainer. The only thing I did was spray WD-40 on the terminals whenever I had the grill off, and that was not often.

On the other hand, I've always had excellent luck with Wally World batteries. The first one I installed in my ancient John Deere 2020 diesel (notoriously difficult to start if the temperature is below 50 degrees) lasted 13 years. The current one in that tractor will be 14 years old next month.

But then its always plugged in to a battery maintainer when the tractor is parked.

My OEM truck battery lasted ~5 years. Less than 24,000 miles. Higher than "normal" capacity battery. Truck came equipped with plow and towing package. Mechanic noted I needed to drive more often and longer distances. Replaced with an Interstate AGM of similar capacity. Last November picked up a 2nd Noco Genius5. Original seems to be working as advertised on the BX's battery. Drive even less now.

Thats pretty good. (y)

I would be pretty happy with that, for sure!

Maybe my “longevity” issue has to do with "the loose nut, behind the wheel" 😅

Speaking of batteries... (in the motorcycle flavor)
I have used these Mighty Max brand batteries with great success.

I have 2 Gel batteries and they hold a charge and work great for about 4 years now.
I think they were $29.00 on amazon at the time of purchase. directions say you can add electrolyte but I have never done so. I run them 'as-is' right out of the box.
Pretty good bang 4 the buck.

I'm fixin to order another one in traditional Lead/acid. They are currently $34.00
Reviews are good.
