How good would a grapple work picking up cut and split firewood logs?

Is the lid something that someone fabricates on their own, or are these built with a "lid". Total newbie here.

Lid-The hydraulic arms that clamp and unclamp. You can get a single large arm or a set of two arms. Two arms clamp better on odd sized loads.
