How do you store your Box Blade?

So until I have the ideal implement storage setup, finding a level spot at the back of the yard is really my current option. That being said I need to come up with a modified pallet solution to store my BB1260 level and ready for the Quick Hitch to grab it.

The blades on the back and tines on front make for some challenges with it sitting "level".

I was thinking of modifying a pallet so the two outsides of the "Box" can sit about 1.5" higher than the rear blades which should get me to "level(ish)", but I can't be the only person to tackle this....

So what have you guys done to drop your box blades on to allow for easy re-attachment ?

Level ground, just bought one, don't know how or if it sinks over winter. That said, 2 by ? lumber is 1 1/2" thick. Short pieces under the sides may work. If you come up with an idea/design you're proud of please add photo to this post.

On a pallet to keep it off the dirt.. and to move it easily with the fiorks and not have to use the 3 point

I have a 4x4 under each shank on the end so it's level and easy to hook up to the 3 point

With all my implements definitely keep it off the dirt. For things like box blade and rotary cutter that don’t sit flat, screw an appropriate thickness block on each side of the pallet or dolly so it sits flat when off the tractor. Spending 20 or 30 minutes customizing a pallet or dolly for each implement really pays off in time and aggravation long term. Makes hooking up and unhooking much easier.

I don’t have a quick hitch and I found for the 547lb box blade it really doesn’t like to be slid around a little bit to get the lift arms to line up. First time I tried to hook it up, after about 20 minutes of screwing around I decided to put it on a custom dolly with casters. Cut hookup time to less than 5 minutes.

When I got the 810lb chipper making the custom pallet it shipped on into a dolly with casters was just part of the non-optional assembly process. If I couldn’t jog it around a little, it would take me forever to hook it up by myself.

With a quick hitch, you at least have to have it reasonably level unless you have a hydraulic top link with enough travel to line it up.

Thanks for the responses, I figured the magic solution was "modify the pallet" which was my plan as I have a decent amount of PT 2x lumber (which is like gold in the summer of 2020) lol

Get a Top & Tilt setup with a QH. You drop/pick them pretty much anywhere without getting off the tractor.

I made a small box with 2x10 sides and a couple 1X cross pieces.

I built this implement stand out of stuff I had laying around, works great for consolidating implement storage in the container. It currently holds my box blade, 5' plow, forks, and some other stuff.

I use 6x6's under each of the square end plates for my box blade and grader blade.

I store mine on a pallet, the same as I do for each of my buckets. The box blade weighs 382 pounds but the pallet handles the weight without problems. The buckets each weigh less than 100 pounds so not a problem there either. I rescued those pallets from a dumpster at work several years ago.

I use a standard pallet but learned to make sure to shim or block up the front of the box sides , or the tines, so it tilts slightly forward when the 3 point is lowered all the way. That puts a little forward pressure on the top link, which can be released easily to disconnect with a slight bottom links raise. Then when I return to mount it back on, I first attach the bottom links, then raise them slightly to line up the top link. Done!

i purchased a couple of 2x4's and the cheapest Harbor Freight furniture dolly and removed the casters (this was cheaper than buying them individually and they have the weight rating) I also used the carpet that came attached and used it so the Box blade will not slide around while it's dolly. Makes it real easy to roll around and maneuver. It cost about $15 and few hours.
