How do they get 39HP from the same engine as the 33HP (3301)has in it?

I see that same thing so many times and this is the exact response I always think of. Lol, kinda stupid on kubotas part for calling it an L3901 when realistically it should have been called an L3701 to keep the HP rating as the first two numbers like the other three standard L series.Are referencing the L3901? If so actually it's rated at 37.5HP
