2015 MX4800. I recently had to charge my battery. After putting it back it I had a code appear in the hours window. The local dealer talked me through the reset to get rid of the PO606 code. My hours before disconnecting the battery was 581.1, but after disconnecting the battery, it was and is now reading 5 18.1 There is a space after the first digit. Has anyone else had this happen? Any easy fix? Thanks!

As a bonus you gained 63 more hours of life on your tractor. Much easier than running it in reverse like on Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Not quite sure how I gained 63 hours? More concerned that if I want to sell the tractor, a buyer may think the tractor has 5000 plus hours or that I have screwed with the meter and could have any number of hours. I am hoping that when it hits 600 hrs. it will read correctly.......

You may try disconnecting the battery for about 30 seconds and then reconnect it to clear any residual memory issues. It’s like clearing error codes when the power is disconnected. It may reset itself to the correct hours.

That's true, but the OP doesn't have 581.1 hours on the meter now. He has 5_81.1 hours.

IF I were looking to buy the tractor, this would be a red flag in my mind...and a concern if I were the owner, as the OP has stated.

If the battery off---30---on doesn't correct it run for at least 13 minutes....
that should update the display from 5 81.1 to 581.2 then 581.3

Please report back after 581.4 if that doesn't work.....

Wow got to love the digital world and computers...When they work? Problems with the Analog gauges never add or gave one problems.
Happy New Year to everyone.

It's a 'love ,hate' thing for me....

I loved them when you NEEDED to know how they worked, one machine instruction after another, though fixing Teletypes got a bit boring.....
I hate them when you NEED to download an 'ap' ,onto your 'smart device' ( which I don't own ) in order to access the cable modem to change anything OTHER than the front panel LED s being on or off.

The sad thing is I understand HOW and possibly WHY the display shows what it does and at least 5 ways to fix it.....

My Vermeer wood chipper has an electro-mechanical hour meter on it, and if I use the chipper for 4 or 5 hours, there is no guarantee of how many hours it will rack up on its own. One day after 4 hours of use, it jumped to 200 hours over the previous reading. This screwy hour meter worked to my advantage since it was showing about 5000 hours on the machine. It came from a rental company who told me that they noticed the same thing, and they serviced it based on the number of days it was out on rental. The true hours on the machine are under 1000, and it is about 8 years old now. I bought it 5 years ago, and it runs like a champ. There was only one time that it broke down on me, and that was when the safety bar bracket broke. My neighbor who is a machinist redesigned the part and made me 2, 1 to install and the other as a spare in case the redesigned one failed. It is so overbuilt I doubt that it will ever fail again.

the digital meters have more functions in them that make life at least a little easier

for instance you can go into a mode and then diag all your safety switches. That in itself has saved my tail a few times! And you can see the sensor input data too for some of the engine sensors (EGT, etc) and sometimes that is a huge help in diag

none of that was avaialble with analog/cable driven stuff.

really just trading one set of problems for another. It got more complex but it also CAN save you some aggravation, at the expense of also being potentially more expensive
