Hi-

Can you connect a 1/4” hydraulic hose to a 3/8” hose? I ask because the quick couplers on my rear remotes are 1/4” and the hose assembly on my loader is 3/8”. Is this possible/advisable? Could I just run 3/8” all the way and have the rear remote end of the hose terminate in a set is 1/4” quick couplers...are 1/4” couplers made that will connect to 3

Reason being is that I’m running one set of remotes to my loader to run a grapple.

Thanks for any help!

Sure, with the proper fittings.

For grapple, there is little need to use 3/8" hose anyway, you can use 1/4" all the way.

You can have 1/2, 3/8, or 1/4 ends crimped onto 1/4" hose.

Are you sure your rear remotes are 1/4"?

It's been helpful to have a real hardware store nearby. They custom make hoses with the required fittings. For the power angle feature on the converted Fisher snow plow, it was as easy as taking a few parts there and telling the guy at the parts counter that I needed two hoses at XX" long with one end to fit this and the other end to fit that. QD's connect the hoses from the angling cylinders to the factory third function plumbing.

The hose size is determined by the volume of oil it has to pass, so the bigger the cylinder, the larger diameter the hose has to be. The grapple MFR will KNOW what size hose is needed and it SHOULD be in the literature somewhere. That being said, since it's a cylinder(or two ?) and not a hydraulic motor my gut says 1/4" is fine, though if the hoses are already close to the couplers, simply by the adapters.

Hi-

Yea, pretty sure. The couplers that are there are the ones that come with the BX rear remote kit, and the part description says:

“COUPLER, 1/4 HN” and “GV 1/4"" PLUG, D- PLUG,DUST” for the dust plug.

Thanks!!
