Does anyone have some simple instructions to make a homemade counterweight. I own a Kubota L245dt with Cat 1 3pt hitch. I am looking for something very simple and instructions that are specific so I don't have to waste a lot of time re-inventing a wheel that someone else may be already invented!

Links to any fasteners or parts required would be great.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions.

This is what I made.
Frame is HD 2" angle with 2 pieces of 1-1/2" flat bar across the bottom.
Lined it with 3/8" plywood and added 6 70lb. concrete blocks. Left enough room at the top for divided compartments for chains/tools.
Added the trailer ball. It was strong enough to help pull my 640 Ford that I stuck.

Ive seen more than one made from a steel or poly barrel or even a trash can. punch a couple holes for an iron bar to go thru for the 2 lower link arms and something to pin the top arm to and fill with rock, dirt, or concrete. make sure you can attach/detach before making it heavy.

I can't find the pic now, but I saw a pic of a bar bridging the lower end of the 3 pt arms & it had lots of exercise weights on it…..

This frame goes into the 2" receiver hitch in my homemade draw bar thing.
The basket holds two 100 pound iron blocks, so while this is four parts in all, it breaks down fast, no more stuck backing up a 2WD B6000 with a front snow blower.

Picture is worth a 1000 words, I think this is one project that comes down to what do you have to work with for time, material, and tools.

The engineering is as straight forward as it can get for tractor attachments.

Good luck, and remember to post the finished product.
