I'm trying to remove the dashboard on an (I think) early 80's Kubota to get at the gas tank and replace glow plug and horn....but I can't get the throttle lever off. Any advice? Thanks
I'm a first time user of this board and am puzzled by the lack of response to my question about removing the dashboard on my Kubota.. Maybe I don't have the right terminology or haven't provided enough info. Here's some more info.
I've removed the steering wheel and the bolts that hold the engine shut-off knob. The only thing preventing me from lifting the dashboard off (besides some wiring, tach cable, etc) is the throttle arm. It's located on the right side of the dash, is a round metal arm that curves into the dash. I've removed a cotter pin attached to that shaft, and three other pins underneath. I can't see behind the dash to figure out what else may be holding it in and there's not enough clearance to slide the dash over the shaft.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...I need to get back to work, but after coming this far I don't want to put it all back together if there's an easy next step to completion. Thanks again
Easy there, not everyone signs on every day. That's a fairly uncommon tractor too and chances are not everyone who has one has taken the dash off. I can't find any pictures of one with it's hood off but you may have to remove the fuel tank to get to the throttle mechanism. A picture would be helpful but taking the tank off is probably what I'd be doing in your shoes.
Thanks for trying Matt. From the looks of it, even though I could get the retainer bands free the fuel tank won't come out without the dash off. I do appreciate your help and didn't mean to be impatient (although I guess I am) in my original post.
I finally got it figured out... The end of the throttle lever is threaded and bolted to a bracket that's attached to the steering column. It was so crudded up i couldn't tell it was a nut.. anyway problem solved.
BTW, there is no horn.. just a dumby rubber button.
