Finding it will be cheaper to buy a box someone has already lifted off or about to do so from their truck who is willing to set it down on my trailer. so might end up with different box than originally planning. ....
Well..... went this route. While looking at Cargo Boxes off back of trucks.. in same price range found an ambulance box....... pre- wired for a Generator, Generator runs Heat or AC... sound insulated Generator cabinet on slider, Ambo shelves still intact. There is lighting.. TON of storage on outside too. All these together along with the seller will help get it on my trailer......... will save a bit of $$. Paid a hold (55%).

Unfortunately... on route there.... Seems Turbo went out on my car..... arggg... computer can't handle that and is miss feeding proper fuel ratios so car is not running. AKJDFKJAOIAERIOE@#$#%$. But then again could be worse. ... Seller let me leave my car at his place. His place is way closer to a friend of mine who is a bit of a Guru with Diesel TDI's. By end of week should have a good diagnosis.

Not sure what year your VW TDI is but I have an 2001 that lost power and would not run very well at all. I thought the turbo went out but turned out it was the mass flow sensor. Which regulated the fuel flow (via the injection pump) based on the air flow (volume and density). Turbo is very expensive to replace but the mass flow sensor was a lot less.

Thanks, will check MAF. We will be hooking it up to VagCom to see what it says hopefully next week. This one is a 99 and only marginally different than an 01. Luckily my mechanic for this car charges by the logic of the job not by the book hours and he is a TDI aficionado and can do this stuff in his sleep, so when he is at it.... it gets done right yet done significantly faster than average.

Put a Quadcon on a 5 by 8 trailer, presto...

Quadcon is one fourth of a twenty foot Conex box, measures 5 by 8 with either 6 foot or 8 foot height...

Weight would require brakes, can be added if the trailer has the bracket, or ordered with.

Even bigger would be an 8 foot by 20 foot trailer, with a 20 foot Conex box...

I would think weight would be a deal killer- 5071lbs for a 20ft container, plus the weight of the trailer, plus the weight of the tools....

Completely unrelated:

The 1/4 shipping container is 3x the cost of what I paid and still has to be wired, shelves, added and so.

Took about 12 hours total..... but got the Rolling tool box on the trailer. The 12hours all added up from driving 40miles at 45mph there, jocky trailer under Ambo on its stack of cement blocks, build rack of 4x6's* plus for Ambo-Tool box to sit on trailer, strap her down, then drive back home at 40mph....... But she is home. Well sorta... Parked her on the road for now cause it's complicated jockeying the trailer in and out of my spot at home so left that up to tomorrow before work.

Pics to follow soon.

*rack simulates a truck chassis so Ambo Box is supported as designed just as if it was sitting on a truck.

As you an see there is no deck on this trailer. We built two stacks of 2 4x6, and 2 4x4 to rise above trailer's cross members to support the Box as if it was a chassis on a truck. Boxed these stacks in for strength. More to do.. but it was enough to get me home. Didn't plan on needing second 2x4 in the stack but had too to clear the air conditioner's condenser on bottom of an outer cabinet at the back driver side outer storage cabinet. With it's fan removed we have only once inch clearance. I'm going to redo fan mounts. Probably will sit vertical on the inner wall of the former wheel well. That is ifff I decide to keep AC working.

trailer backed under. We removed trailer from my truck and used a hand jack to finite controll the trailer. had only mm's to clear bricks

wellll shiat......

Finally some good weather. Starting back to work on this toolbox on wheels and run into a snag. Was hoping to start clearing out my sheds with tools randomly stuffed everywhere and put into this ambo today to start organizing my tools. grrr but it is too wet. Need a few sunny hot days to air it out.

The benches inside have a good bit of water inside them. Could this be built up condensation? Leaks? Most the lights on the sides and back were removed and there is a metal plate covering them but after speaking with Roger today (seller) they were siliconed pretty well. While not on outside edge of the cover plate but right next to the opening in the body where the light use to sit. In the conversation he said he had same issue and this was why he replaced the lights with the plates.

There is no water anywhere else though. Rear windows are broke out but covered. Front cab to truck window/crawl thru for now only has a plastic bag taped over it. What to yall think? Roger things it might be the clearance/running on top edges.

grrr

Coach, check out the RV section at your local big box store. They should sell cans of desicant. Just open the lid and leave them in a couple corners. The desicant draws the moisture out of the air.

I use three cans in my 30ft camper when I winterize it and store it. When the beads turn black, it's time to replace them.

Silicone make a horible seal on metal to metal where they have the ability to flex at all.

A much better way of sealing any plates that cover holes in the body would be polyurethane (windshield glue).
