I posted this topic quite a long time ago (http://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13539) but failed to follow up due to other more pressing farm pressures; so I'm posting it into a new thread. Hope that's ok.

For snow removal, I've been using a 6' grader blade. It works great, but I still have this old snow blower sitting there.

It's a very old snow blower that was left behind by the previous owner. I've gone over it and have it in working order, and I know how to attach it to the 3 point hitch and rear pto of my tractor. I have a Kubota L3600 GST tractor.

Now I just need to know how the heck to I operate the tractor and snowblower together. Here's what I've tried....and succeeded to break shear pins. I hooked it up, started the tractor, engaged the pto, and increased the rpm to 540. If I engage the clutch, the pto stops and then if I release the clutch, even slowly, I break the shear pin.

Do I now just leave the clutch alone and use the main shirt lever (to select the speed) and then the shuttle shift lever (to shift from neutral to forward or reverse) to move the tractor?

I've searched YouTube, but couldn't find a video there to explain what to do after you have the snow blower attached to the tractor.

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Is you have a Glide shift transmission, you have no need to use the clutch. So just stop the tractor using the brake. Shift it to the opposite direction and proceed. Leave the pto running. Just idle down the tractor before changing direction. When you finish snow blowing, push in the clutch, and disengage the pto.

Fantastic.

Thanks for the help. I'll try it later this week and let you know if I was successful.

I figured it would be easy, but when you don't know.....you don't know.

Let us know if you can make a windrow of mosquitoes. Maybe a new use for snowblowers in the summer. If it works on mosquitoes maybe earlier in the year it will work for black flies.
