Hello All,

I have been lurking on the forum for a few weeks and have recently purchased a new to me b8200e. This little guy sat in a barn the last few years and I got a decent deal on it and a woods finish mower, at least i think 1500.00 was a good deal. It did not run at the time, but after a rebuilt injection pump, new oil, all the filters, including hydraulic filter and oil, glow plugs, diesel treatment, new battery and cables she fired right up yesterday. Now I am not a diesel mechanic per say but I did stay at a holiday inn last year, however I like to think I do a decent job in the garage. Mentioning this so you know that I do not mind pulling heads or rebuilding the entire engine if need be. I have downloaded the parts manual, but not the workshop manual just yet. I will get that if I keep the tractor. I am thinking of selling this one for a little more then I have in it because I really wanted a FEL but jumped on this just for the challenge and due to cost felt how can I really go wrong. I would like to mention I had the pump rebuilt in Ocala, Fl for $250.00, it appears to be a Bosch authorized location, and the tractor does run but not fully tested under a load yet. I plan on doing a "nice" rattle can paint job on her and will use her for a very small garden if I keep her. In addition I am going to add additional gauges, and forgive me because I saw a thread but could not find it again where one of the forum members added a triple gauge just below the steering column, looked great in my opinion and love guages over lights any day of the week.

I would post pictures but it is uncanny how similar in shape it is to Millenial's new tractor, it even had a walmart everstart battery, they could be twins. By the way, Millenial, called a place in Kentucky last week for new/used fenders, 450 plus 125 for shipping, needles to say, I will let the new owner worry about that, just going to ask some body guys how to clean them up enough to make them decent. Going to sandblast for sure, and weld some small sheets of metal around the battery tray, but replacement is not in this tractors future.

Here is my issue, during the bleeding process yesterday diesel accumulated around the nozzle injectors and I noticed small bubbles as she was running around #1 and #3 cylinder, no worries as I also purchased nozzle holder gaskets, so let me just pull these babies out and install new gaskets. Upon pulling #3 out i noticed quite a bit of carbon around 3/4 of th ebottom, cant be good so I am going to have these sent off and rebuilt, while they are out. I do not need the tractor until late august so why not, one less thing to worry about in the future and cleaning the carbon out has to be a good thing. Now the issue, how do you remove the copper gaskets without damaging anything, is there a special tool? I figured I would post first as maybe there are a few tricks that would not be mentioned in the WSM book. I do have a nice brass o-ring tool that looks like a dental pick, but I can even get the copper washer to budge. Any ideas?

I will get some pictures and post the progress. Thanks in advance guys

Thanks Wolfman,
would it make sense that they are stuck in the head and did not come out with the Nozzle? It almost is like they have been "compressed" in the head by over torquing maybe? But when i look in the injector hole i see a nice shiny copper surface.

Might take an O ring pick, and a little force, or if necessary, a small screwdriver heated and bent to a right angle, with the bend so that it can act as an upward fulcrum, on the opposite side if the injector hole...:D

Sorry, did not realize that they were stuck in the head, I was thinking they were stuck on the holder.
Yea that is an odd one and yea it's probably from over torqueing them.

A slide hammer with a hook attachment would work if you can hook just the copper gasket and not the head.
Use a small pin punch and put a good dimple in them then force the ring into the middle of the hole , or even an old screwdriver or chisel to get in on the outside edge and again force it to the middle thus folding it and thus making it smaller to remove it.

I have a bad habit of repeatedly having to reach into small diameter holes to remove stuck items.

No, I'm not a proctologist, although sometimes...

NIW's slide hammer suggestion is a good one except I've not seen a slide hammer that has a hook (or two opposing hooks with their lips pointed outward) small enough to work in your desired application.

The long-line tool companies have a jigger called an 'internal blind bushing remover' that would seem to better fit your need. Might try to find a loaner or rental from a parts house in your area. Looks sort of like a small two- or three-jaw puller but with the jaw hooks turned outward.

Before I stumbled into one priced inexpensively at a sale, it was once worth the cost to have a mobile heavy equipment mech drop by the house on his lunch hour and for cash and 15-min remove a bushing (much like your glow plug copper crush washers) I simply couldn't otherwise remove.

Please post back your continuing experiences so we may all learn.

ALL,
Just a quick update, I was able to take the o-ring pick and clean all the carbon out of the injector hole and eventually able to pull the copper gaskets out. Replaced with 3 new injectors and 3 new gaskets. No more leaks, and properly torqued. The old nozzles were definitely over torqued. Started the rattle can paint job and moving along nicely, I plan on doing a regular sandblast and appropriate paint job later, right now just hit it with a wire wheel, primer and paint. I also got the pleasure to experience the old paint from a dealer so only got 1/4 can out before it stopped spraying

Thanks Everyone for your help--
