I am kind of late getting this wrote up. Farming sometimes gets in the way of my screwing around time LOL. This is kind of a long story so I will try to keep it short. Haven't had a real side by side around our farming operation since I had heart failure years back and we got out of the cattle business. Been using the MX6000 as my side by side. We had two old Cushman truckter's around. Wife uses one for gardening and yard work I used the other one to hook behind equipment to get me a ride home when needed. Couple years ago frame broke on the one I used sold it to a guy that needed a engine. Last summer hers had some issues and during the winter I pulled the engine and got it going again. Last summer wife said why don't you buy a new mule? They are made just down the road from were we live. So I called around got some pricing and we took the trailer to a open house and planned on buying one. Looked it over and decided to buy. Got in the office to write the check and there were going to be another three grand added to the price that he told me on the phone. Freight and other nonsense. We got up and walked out. So fast forward to March this year and the wife says are you going to get a new side by side? You are going to need some tax write off. I said yes I think I will and I am going to get a Kubota RTV-X1100C. No dealers super close to me and the dealer I bought the MX6000 from sell Honda side by sides so he's out. I get on the internet and phone and start shopping man there is a ton of equipment around now. Can't believe some of these dealers are trying to take a whole three hundred off MSRP for a cash deal LOL. I guess they haven't heard we are getting into a buyer market. So to cut the shopping story a little short best deal I found on one with the aluminum wheels and the best tires was six thousand under MSRP and seven hundred miles from home. Next day a dealer calls me back that I had called but he was out. He's just under hundred miles from home. I ask you have any RTV-X100C in stock he said yes but there sold. I say ok and start to hang up and he says I have five coming in. They should be here in April. I told him what price the other dealer would do and it would probably cost me five hundred to go get it so I would give another five hundred. He said you have a deal. I sent him a five hundred dollar deposit. He called April 8 said the RTV was in and they run it threw the shop and it would be ready the next week. I said I am in the middle of planting and it would be a couple weeks or when it rains before I could pick it up he said no problem I will delivered to you. The next week he showed up with it wife wrote him a check. Between planting and spraying I haven't used it much yet. I think I am going to enjoy it.

Yeah, it’s still a strange market with some dealers trying to charge MSRP (some over MSRP, lol) and others willing to deal. I recently purchased a CanAm Maverick and I ran into the same thing. But, finally found a dealer that was realistic to the market conditions and offered a significant discount off MSRP and I made a purchase. Crazy times.

I gave up looking for a Kubota RTV1100C because the dealers want more than the list, and people are trying to get wealthy on used ones. I had a deal on a 2016 with the Kubota Snowblower and the 6-way Kubota plow for $16,000, but the guy wanted cash and wouldn't wait till the next morning when I could get it from the bank. In the middle of the night, I got a text from him that he sold it to someone out of state who brought him cash. I think that it was a BS story, but that was 2 years ago, and I have no way to know for certain. I did ask him for the Certificate of Origin, and he claimed to have it, but I think that is what spooked him into blowing me off. I don't need a new one, but I would still like to find a clean used one at a reasonable price. At this point in my life, the last thing that my wife thinks that I need is more toys.

I don’t know if Covid is behind or just ahead again. I just heard about someone asking if someone’s under the weather kids took a Covid test.

I think it’s a perspective thing.

I think hedgerow’s point is not so much about wether Covid itself is actually in the past, but the fact that manufacturers, dealers, stores and other businesses are still using Covid as an excuse to manipulate the prices and wait times for products and services.

We were planning to get a new vehicle just before covid / chip shortage / whatever else they came up with to jack up the prices. "Like" a new vehicle isn't "need" a new vehicle for us. Money is still in a separate account for the last few years. I'll run the old Chebby and keep fixing it for now.

If that gets too bad we'll get Wifey's 2002 Alero out more often. It' still looks like new because it spent the last 22 years parked inside and has about 50K miles on it. Got wet more often from washing than it did from getting rained on.

Covid has now mutated to be less dangerous and more like the flu. Different strains will come around every year and many will get sick for a week, but few will die.

N.Y,
Covid is actually back in my area. Had it since Sunday and it's just as bad as the bouts I had 4 years ago. New drugs though. Doctor gave me Paxlovid and finally the high fever is gone and congestion is bearable 4 days later. My wife just caught it from me and is down hard. Hopefully we don't go through this every 4 years. I will recommend that you wear a mask in any medical procedure waiting room.
