Hard starting

I have a 2005 B7510 that has 500 and some hours on it.
When I let the tractor sit for 4 or 5 days it needs to turn over an unusually long time before it finally starts.
All of the filters are fresh and the battery is new.
I can use it for 2 or 3 days in a row and it starts fine. As long as I start it up within a 4 or 5 day period it is all good.
Is there some way the fuel pressure is bleeding off? I am just curious if this is normal.

You should provide some weather info with a post like yours. Your could be in Florida or Alaska and the answers you get need the weather info.
First, as a caution never use quick start. It just needs to be said to new comers.
The engine should always start without much cranking.
Do you have a way to test your glow plugs. A multi meter, an infra red temp gun...........?
I do not have an Operators' manual for your tractor and the WSM says veery little about bleeding the fuel system. If there are good instructions in the Operators manual try bleeding the system before a start after many days of sitting.
Others with more experience with this vintage of machine will provide more advice.

you did not mention that you are glowing the plugs for a lengthy bit - I would say in your neck of the woods, I would hit them for 20+ seconds.
That engine is 15+ years old and IF anything like the older "B" series - cold weather starts can be a real Beaaauch!

When you crank a cold diesel - the combustion MUST get the air hot enough to ignite the diesel, a cold engine will suck the heat and NOT allow the compression to ignite the diesel.

My old B7100 will remind me quick like and in a hurry IF I start them (try) without glowing the engine for 10 plus seconds IN THE SUMMER........ and when I do - it fires before 360 degrees occures.

Yes it could be bleeding down, it's a hard thing track down.
Look for weeping leaks, or wet spots.

Yes it could be bleeding down, it's a hard thing track down.
Look for weeping leaks, or wet spots.

Yeah good ole Missouri where the weather is never the same. BTW it is -3 here now. Anyway it does not seem to be affected by temperature. I could not find any information about glow plugs in the operator’s manual. The key does not turn backwards like on the green ones. Do the glow plugs turn on with the key?
The next time I fire it up I will try leaving the key on for a 20 or so count and see what happens.

I used to have a WSM for my old B7510 but I gave it to the person that bought it last year.
I had about 980 hours on it when I sold it and it always started right up if you used the glow plugs. From the description of your problem I would say it's sucking air into the fuel rather than a glow plug issue.
Given the age of the tractor look at all the rubber fuel lines replace any that look cracked. It might be that they are letting fuel to run away from the injection pump.
The longer crank time is the transfer pump refilling the line to the injection pump.
Another thought is did the new fuel filter have both the small (on the filter) and large (on the bowel) O-rings? were they new or reused?
Also what about the engine oil is the level going up? Does the transfer pump have a leak that leaks into the oil pan?

Does the B7510 have the same type of starting switch as an Lx2610? My guess, and it's only a guess since I don't have a B7510, is that the glow plug position with the key is to the left.

I owned a 2004 B7510 you run the glow plugs off the key switch in the position just before the cranking position

Thank you for your advice. I went out this morning and noticed the 4 positions and wanted to try it….. worked like a charm. Started right up. It was 0 degrees this morning and it still started right up. I wanted to run it for a bit so I pushed the snow off my driveway.
Only in Missouri do we think 1-2” of snow needs to be pushed. Thank you again and another satisfied customer.
