It's a bummer here in AZ, for us at least. We are not like many around here: Snowbirds. We are here all year.

I love having these dark mornings to sit with my coffee and see what my Orange family is up to. In summer, we are out the door at 0430 to get home from walking the monsters by sunrise. That way the street is cool on their feet.

In winter, we get up and eat and then take a couple hours to drink more liquid sleep and read e-mails. Dog walking is definitely after sunrise. In summer, I get back from the dog walk and barely have time to grab a bite before getting out for whatever work task I have to get to. I wrap up around 1030 and then, a couple week days, take the wife to lunch. After lunch, its pretty much stuff indoors for us. You know, like most of you this time of year! :) Nice thing is, in summer, with half the people gone, its nice and quiet here.

:)

As much as I dislike winter in Michigan, I look at it this way... Winter is necessary for the land to rest so it can produce a bountiful crop in the spring and a good harvest in the fall...

Besides, I can chase the elusive Bambi's in the winter...:D

As far as I am concerned, every day is a party when you are retired, as I am. I fill my week by doing things around the property that my wife wants done. She never runs out of projects for me. She volunteers at the food bank two days per week and managed to rope me into one day per week for that. They have me drive truck for them most of the time or break my back by unloading the truck. I love it when my wife finds tractor chores for me to do. I do almost all of my tractor chores in low range and at the lowest RPM that I can just to make the work (play) last longer. She never complains when I have a few tractor beers while working. So all in all, every day is a party for me. I am blessed more than most I suppose.

Skeets, when I say that every day is a party, I honestly mean it. My wife and I have been together for 36 years. We have learned what each other needs. I get to drink tractor beer every day that I am onn the tractor. I have 5 children and all of them are gainfully employed. I have 7 grandchildren and all of them live out of state. When they visit, it really is a joyful time. When we visit our children it is a travel adventure for me and my wife. We make a full three week or more vacation out of it. We get to visit my mom and she really appreciates the visit. We get to fly to Korea to visit my mother-in-law and the rest of the family and it is relaxing. I cannot be more serious. We have learned how to be retired and enjoy it. Happy is the word for it. The subject that you chose fits our life to a 'T'.

Brother Skeets,

Yes. 'Yotes. Mule deer, javalina, bobcats, no mountain lions so far but, they are "out there." In the summer we have to watch out for snakes and poisonous frogs. The dogs are pretty savvy now though a couple months ago, my male terrier (55lbs) hung back to chew wild grass and we heard him yelp... A Coyote had nipped him in the leg. Didn't break the skin. He stays a lot closer now. We walk them on buzz/shock collars and are training the puppy to as well. Most of the time she is on a leash.

The javalina around here are pretty tame because one of the neighbors feeds them and they are desensitized to people and pets. Gotta keep an eye out though...

The Antique Caterpillar Club always has a Spring Fling where folks gather and bring equipment and build something like a pond. The person hosting the event usually knows about it before hand!!:D:D

Skeets, you better send her a PM!!
