BLM is notorious place for egomaniacs to rise to top of political offices. They are so hidden from day to day world it is easy place to climb invisible to the average Joe's eye.

Then they wheel their hammers of power to satisfy their ego near about as invisible as well.

Then others egomaniacs in other political offices attempt to ride a coat tail of something BLM started and you end up with a mess like these land grabs.

It's been happening to offroaders who want to in reasonably ecologically safe manner explore our great PUBLIC lands for decades. (BLM blocks horse riders from areas.... ATV and/or Jeepers from other areas, no hiking, no bicycles and on and on. ... all the while it was groups from these recreationist who were the ones to assist in maintaining and protect the environment they get blocked from. Then the maintenance stops... the area falls apart, water once managed now causes mud slides and destroys it all or forest trails not managed anymore and fire trucks can't get in and put out lightning strike fires and it all burns down etc.

Makes you want to think twice about owning land that borders state/federal land. Never mind controlled burns (a common practice), I would be afraid to burn a pile a brush .

The Bureau of Land Management is an agency of the Department of the Interior, an Executive department under the direct control of the POTUS. It can be done away with by Executive Order. Its behavior is entirely controlled by the POTUS, not internal bureaucrats.

Spread of BLM power and resources has been entirely at the behest of Presidential fiat.

I pray that one day we'll have a President with enough strength to stand up and return the land to the States. Let the States be responsible for the care and maintenance of the public lands and parks within their boarders. There's no need for Federal presence at all on public lands. The States can do it all and hopefully return land that doesn't have a significant resource value back to the public bank for purchase and reasonable use.
