It's been tough to get people to respond to fill dirt and RAP ads. Looking to get 50+ tons of dirt and another 35 tons of RAP delivered. 9+ messages on the Zuckertube marketplace. Not one reply.
Is the economy really doing that well? It's hard to give people money around here! What about your region?

Been lucky around here. Probably 30-40 loads of free fill in last 14 months. But i did run a tri axle for long time so was kinda in the network. Lent my little d4 cat out to a couple guys so they paid back in clean fill. Been backing off as my s250
Bobcat not at home now. Seems like all or nothing….

I don't FB is the best choice in most areas. Why not talk to your local quarry or excavators? They can usually hook you up with someone who can drop it off.

depends on the area

out here where construction is HOT, getting someone to do anything outside of working for a construction company is tough. Same for electricians, HVAC, roofing, etc

That's not a bad idea. I'll be calling some paving companies and site work places Monday.
Marketplace used to be great. I've had great results buying and selling. Until now.

That may be part of it. We are so close to the city. There is a lot of commercial and residential construction.

My neighbor ran into that issue using FB trying to find a stone hauler.

They were just looking for a load of SB2 delivered.

One person called right back, but said they had a 5 load minimum.

Others just didn't call back.

Talk to people around you and find out through "word of mouth" on who to use.

I got a number for a local guy from someone else. The guy also happens to own his own shale pit. So it's a bonus if you need cheap fill.

I need a load, I get a load. I need 10, I get 10.

I've since given the guys number out to others as well. Including my neighbors who ran into issues locating someone through Facebook.

He gets his buisiness by word of mouth. He's not on Facebook and doesn't advertise. He's busier then ever just from supplying a good service and people passing his number on to others.

Now if he's busy one week, he'll tell you up front.

I am having a house built, power run, land clearing etc in North Central Arkansas. Its hard to get anyone to do anything up there. Quite a culture shock compared to growing up and living about 40 mi NW of Houston. I gotta say, we get things done here.

Owning a business that does oilfield work has really skewed my perception I think.

That is definitely the best way. One of my "neighbors" has a dump truck. We wave when out walking the dog. I don't know them well enough to ask if he would be willing to barter or take some cash for a load. Guess I need to stop in and introduce myself 😄

Some folks are definitely on "country time" around here.

I've had a couple do just that the past few weeks. Folks that just bought a lot up the street, and our official new neighbors who bought 4 acres next to us.

Both were looking for info for Perc tests, info for septic installers, and haulers.

I was more then happy to help, and wished I had someone to get that info from when we purchased.

Before I found the stone hauler, I was fixing to flag down and stop the triple axle dump truck that drives past about 5:30 am most mornings 😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣
