Grease Gun Coupler

I'm having a devil of a time getting grease into the zerks. No matter hard I push into the zerk, or adjust the angle of the coupling-tip, after it snaps on, most grease squirts outside the zerk.

Any coupler advise as to brand or type would be appreciated. I'm using a Lube Shuttle pistol grip grease gun.

They don't make coupler tips like they used to.

Lock and lube couplers work well in most situations but are large.

Tractor is less than 2 years old. But I was thinking they were a bad batch on my loader.

Here is one way, talking about adjusting it basically each time but normally there is some tolerance and some spring involved that allows it to work on multiple point. Getting the coupler to lock down on difficult fittings will help force the grease into the joint instead of outside the fitting

Rotate the tip at the end of the grease hose by the knurled end. It opens and closes the ability to clamp on the grease fitting. You can adjust so it fits the grease zert.

You can actually adjust so the tip fits and then "snug" it a bit to make sure it's tight, then pump grease and then be sure to loosen the adjustment to get the tip off. Or else you can break the grease fitting off, and be REALLY frustrated!

I have a bunch of 0, 45, and 90 degree zerk fittings and was going to replace all of them on my loader... pita.

But I just got 'learned' (doh!) and I'll try the method discribed. You can actually teach a crotchety old dog new tricks.

I agree with mikester...the LockNLube Coupler is probably the best out there. I have both the normal length and the XL, both have worked flawlessly. Worth the money.

I have one of these too. I don't see any flush zerks on cars, like I did on airplanes, but it works great for places the LNL is too big for. Just press the tip on the ball of the zerk and pump.

Works especially well on my trucks U-joints.

I also have a zerk clog tool. It's a small cylinder you pour a bit of hydraulic fluid in. Put the cap on and insert into the zerk. Hit it with a hammer and the pressure will blow everything out. Grease up and you're good to gol
