Ok the snow is almost gone and i started to get the deck ready for the mowing season, you know pull the blades off and grease everything up ok I did all that untill I got to the wheels on the mower deck poped the gun on and gave them a couple of shots of grease pulled the nozzel off and lo and behold the grease fitting was still in the nozzel,, wtf,, ok I pulled it out and went to the next wheel same same, and the 3r dsame same,, number 4 didnt get greased,, I called the dealer,, yup we know that happens,, nope theres no fix for it, the fittings are pressed in and if you have a tight nozzel they pull out,,Anybody have any ideas on how to fix these plastic wheels to keep the fitting in,,yeah I could go and buy new ones but what fun would that be!!!!

I have an RCK60B on my 2410 and my plastic antiscalp rollers do not use grease fittings at all. However, my mower does not "hang" under the tractor it is on hard rubber treaded steel wheels on the fromt corners and 2 at the center of the mower that is adjustable for the mowing height.

Those 4 wheels do have grease fittings but they are threaded in...

Its no help for the 3 that have pulled out but this may help in the future: On most of the good grease guns ive seen the coupling barrel, not the whole thing, will unscrew,if you back this off part of a turn the chuck in the end won't grip the nipple so tight so it should come off easier. If it gets forced off during greasing either press harder or tighten the barrel a bit more,if it locks on too much and you have room, back the barrel off and it will release the grip. This will also work if the gun coupling has locked by hydraulic pressure due to a blocked nipple or grease way in the part your trying to lube.

I hope I am wrong but the the type of the plastic used in your wheels may make tapping the threads difficult.
As most will know,to tap a thread the material has to be brittle enough for the tap to cut and remove swarf. some plastics especially types used where high impact resistance is required are of a softer nature, the tap will start to cut in but not enough to remove swarf so the tap if will start to bind and tear out or even in the case of a cheap carbon steel tap, break off:eek:

I have an idea for a solution but would need to see a picture of the wheel and old nipple so could you post a pic of them?
dave..

Dave I would love to post a pic, but several months ago the house was robed by a couple of highed up tweekers,,no I havent gottne anything back,,, guns money jewlery cameras anything that was worth anything they took,, even tried to get the Harley out of the garage. Anyway my most wonderful Ins company politely told me gee thats a shame,,,BUT,, since you didnt have a rider on your guns, your wifes jewlery, your cameras and so on and so on,, what I got was only a couple of pennys on the dollar replacement, for what we lost. So like I said anything Im doing now is on the cheap, and a new camera is kinda far down the list if ya understand.
Peace
