At the end of summer i had to use the compression pull 2 or 3 times to get it to start. Normally only once. Went to use it 3 months ago and cant get it to start. Neighbor said glow plugs - I watched bunch of you tube videos saying pretty much same thing. I put tarp over it and heated it and started right up. Changed glow plugs and didn't change anything. It wants to start meaning it turns over etc but just wont start. Ideas?
Thnx
Steve

Have you verified that you are getting power to the glow plugs?

Well i noticed the coils lit up on the dash and assumed they were working. I stuck my hand down there after it wouldn't start and felt a bit warm where they are. Very odd that when i tried to start it a week later the coils were not lighting up. I also heated it again with tarp and heat last week and would not fire up.

What temperatures are you seeing? When did you put the fuel in it (summer mix or winter mix)?

Test light to check for voltage to the plugs on preheat and crank.

Temps in low 20's at night and up from there. Not sure what temp it is in shop. Filled fuel toward end of summer.

Is the decompression returning to the closed position? Your cable may be sticky.

Crack an injector line at an injector and see of you get pulses of fuel when you crank it, if not you have water in the system, most likely the filter housing and it's not getting fuel. ;)

This was the other one i saw on youtube and tried that as well. Not sure how much fuel is supposed to run when cranking but it did come out of both. i looked again last week and there is fuel right on top of the injector.
