Grapple

I have just started using a Tar River grapple. Last night was the second use not putting it under major strain just moving brush I cut down with a brush hog. After about an hour it locked in the open position. I click the 3rd function button and it jerks but will not close. Any thoughts?

Have you made sure it’s not the 3rd function valve that’s malfunctioning??

disconnect the hoses and loop them together. The lid should open and close manually. If it moves, it’s the 3rd function malfunction

did you add any hydraulic oil when you installed it ?

I did not originally. I did check last night and added 1/2 gallon to bring it back to full. However I have not tried to operate it since. Could that resolve it?

Thanks. I tried this just now. When I connect the grapple male and female together I cannot move the grapple manually.

I’m glad you found it. I had several loose fittings. You should check them all
