I have 4760 Kubota with 2 rear hydraulics installed by dealer on my used machine. I ran hydraulic hoses to front of tractor and secured them to my loader. I used grapple attachment earlier this year and it worked ok. I put it on and opened and closed grapple a few times and went to move cut up logs with it. It worked ok for 1st 3 or 4 moves and then stopped. It acted like it was pushing against a pressure, but not moving. I unhooked (quick release couplings) and hooked up again. Grapple closed once and would not open. (once again acting like it was under pressure trying but no working. Any one got any idea on my problem?

Did you use teflon tape on the hoses?
Sounds like you have clogged up Quick Disconnects.

+1 on the teflon tape. I use Anerobic sealant only.

Not that I would know about this but I just got my brand new EA grapple and the almost exact same thing happened. The 60.00 special spring to keep the hoses out of the grapple was too expensive cause the grapple cost so much and I was real careful to route the hoses . Worked perfect ,I was so happy I could almost, well you know. All was well until the 3rd brush pile and I was sure the hydraulics had failed cause when I raised the grapple the pump started squealing lost power . I looked real good for leaks anything else to blame. Now it looks like I will be calling EA about the grapple and how much it cost didn't work blah blah blah. Could have been that the hoses somehow got pinched in the grapple but I'm way smarter than that. Bungee cord works well till I get spring. Now I have 2 hoses that will need replacing in the future.

thanks for suggestions. I did use Teflon tape on fittings and this may be the problem. I will change that. What brand of sealant would you suggest I use on the fittings?

What style of valve are you using for the grapple? If it's a valve intended for a loader, some are made like Kubota valves, sending full pressure to both ends of the cylinders. The big end overpowers the smaller rod end and the bucket moves. A grapple with this kind of valve will only work with hoses connected one way. The fact that it worked a few strokes may just indicate trapped air that hadn't worked itself out yet. To test out this possibility try switching the hoses on the grapple. Dick B

I use Detroit Diesel Anerobic sealant (which you probably cannot buy) but Case offers one at their Dealers and I think Permatex-Loctite has one as well.

Teflon tape is bad on any hydraulic fitting if any of the tape winds up proud of the end of the fitting

Your speaking of regen or the "regenerative" feature of a valve. That's pretty rare on a rear remote unless its some type of joystick valve intended for FEL use.

We sell a small bottle of sealant on our website, but Permatex and Loctite both make products intended for high pressure hydraulic use.

PTF paste is my choice, and very little of it.

Hydraulic fittings come in two versions, tapered thread and surface sealing.
Tapered thread fittings need a little something to help them seal, where surface sealed fitting do not, these types are inside and outside tapered lands, and O-ring or Copper ring sealed fittings.

Not trying to highjack this thread or change the subject but I have to know. What kind of chevy do you have and pictures if you can.
