grapple.. and stump bucket question for L2502

Hew folks new tractor owner here. So many implement questions LOL

1. Is there a go to light weight grapple for the L2502? Searching through old threads it looks like EA was, but they're no more? The Landpride SGC0660 the dealer wants to sell me doesn't have the best reviews, no serrations. I liked the 4ft width and light weight of it though to maximize the lift weight. Mostly light duty work but want to break up some grassed over hills of dirt to move the dirt around, will need to move some heavier pine tree logs occasionally.

2. Is it a bad idea to use a compact tractor with a stump bucket to remove the occasional pine tree stump? As I work the property there's going to be a few trees that need to come down and I want them out not ground down. I was looking at something simple like this Titan's "economy series" stump bucket. 3. I was gifted some pallet forks that are similar if not identical to the titan ones in the attached pic. They seem sturdy and I've moved some impressively heavy loads with it already. Would it be a bad idea to use this for pulling up fence posts? I was thinking I could remove the forks and use the vertical hitch to hook a strap onto (see pic below). Thoughts here?

I purchased the LP SGC0660 and have been completely happy with it on my L2501. You mentioned 4 foot wide? The SGC0660 is 60 inch wide.

I do not miss not having "serrations" nor have I have bent a tine in pulling moving hundreds if not thousands of pines in the 4 to 6 inch dia range. Living and dying from my sandy soil.

I have pulled a few larger pines wit the grapple, just have to work slow and use leverage etc to your advantage. The stump picture was a living red pine that was about 10 inch dia at the base, removed solely with the L2501 and SGC0660

I have move some very large and heavy oak and white pine logs. The limiting factor being the ballast on the rear.

Stump bucket is a sure fire way to wreck your loader. Tractor loaders aren’t really good at being tweaked or twisted. To pull posts, I do it in a safer way to avoid loader damage. I back up to the post and attach the chain to a rear blade while it’s on the ground next to the post. Then just lift the blade with the 3ph. As for stumps, tractors aren’t good tools for removing them unless you want to dig them up with a backhoe. Better to rent a mini-excavator to dig them out, or a stump grinder unless they are small trees like Ken is doing. Also he mentions sandy soil. If you are working with clay soil, it may not be possible to pull them with a grapple.

I feel I am a operator that understands and in tune with the limitations of my tractors and implements. Not saying I will never tweak my loader arms or bend a tine on the grapple.

Jyoutz is 100% correct that tractor loaders do not like those twisting forces. That being said a lot of work can be accomplished with a grapple and stump bucket if you take your time, work slow and smart. Be one with the machine! LOL.

Good luck with what ever grapple etc you choose! :)

I have a grapple from MTL for my JD that has served me well. They aren't known for after the sale service but the implements are American made, inexpensive, and they have free shipping to a shipping hub or a modest fee to bring to your home. You have to be there to unload with your tractor if you choose home delivery.

They have a 350 lb 48" grapple in black but they are out of the orange ones.

EA makes great products.They have had some legal issues more recently but are back in business. Give them a call. Good luck.

I am not a fan of "twisting" my loader arms, so I use one of these to pull stumps.

Works great!

I have the Homestead Implements Pinnacle grapple for my 2502. It's a very well made grapple and serves me well for my uses. It took me about 6 weeks to get it from order to delivery. Catawba makes really nice grapples too and from what I understand, most folks are getting them within 2 weeks of ordering. Might check them out.
