Hi,
Four Wheel Drive stopped working on our GR2120. Im wondering if there are any common problems causing this. Thanks much for any help or ideas.

Can you be more specific, do you just have rear wheel drive?

Have you checked the transmission fluid level?

How many hours on machine since last transmission fluid service. Transmission filter change required ar 50 hours, 200 hours , 400 hours etc. Fluid change every 400 hours.

Have you cleaned the transmission fluid strainer. Have you checked / changed the front axle case oil?

Best guess without further info is that transmission fluid may be low.

Look at the glide steer cables and the levers and linkages (each front wheel and then the links on each side of the bottom of the transaxle). All good? Levers and cables not stuck? All free/working? If so, look at the drive shaft. Did it slide off? Seen that before too. If those are ok jack up one front wheel only, or at least block one from turning, then try to turn the other. Does the drive shaft move? If yes, your issue is most likely inside the transmission, though that's not seen by me or my coworkers (yet). If the driveshaft don't turn, you have a front differential issue.

If it's in the transmission, you're gonna have fun.....

Thanks much for both reply’s. Tractor has about 800 hours on it and it has only rear wheel drive. I think with the excellent information given we can find the problem. I will report back after we get a chance to work on it again. Again, thanks very much.

I've seen a few problems with these at the dealership I work for. We have had a total of 4 with 4wd problems. Only one was the problem your having and yes it was internal. The other ones were Internal also but as in one wheel not turning and there would be a nut back off inside the hydro. Definitely check what the others have said but yes I have seen problems with the gr.
