Cat 3013 3 cyl diesel, like their excavators use. It leaks across the top of the injector pump, ASV dealer wants $1200 for the pump, rebuilder wants $100/hole, no brainer, I guess. Anyway, anybody have any experience with one of these, its a cam driven pump, not at all like what I am used to on my old kuboters...

Here's a link to what I found online, picture is for a 4 cyl, but very similar to my 3cyl...

That's a similar set up to my deutz 914's :D mine haven't sprung leaks on the shim between the top plate and the housing. I've had a few leaks where the ports bolt to the top plate. Usually it's an o'ring that's bad. Usually caused by someone who knows just enough to be dangerous  Most of my leaks were from one of the oil lines, or a freeze plug ;)

UPDATE: Was doing a little snooping on fleabay, tonight, found a perkins motor, that apparently cat bought, and re-badged as cat. Followed some links, found a PDF for the perkins motor, a 403D-15. Got the whole manual copied off, for the cost of the paper. As Hannibal used to say, I love it when a plan comes together! I guess I'll tackle that project on Sunday. I already had the photo-tach on it today, clocked it at idle, and at max throttle, to see if anything changes, after the pump rebuild. :D:D

Another update...

Got the little bugger off, today. Good thing the shop manual was free, cause it didn't say anything about having to wiggle the rack, to be able to pull the pump up, to disconnect the linkage. That omission cost me about 45 minutes, and one stubborn stud, that I had to sacrifice, to get it out. Made sure to write my findings in the manual, so I can remember it, if I have to do it again...:D:D
