2 weeks ago I was asked to escort the lady across the street tractor shopping. Here is brief description of her property it is 5 acres of gently sloping property and has a small detention pond in the pasture. She is a 2 horse owner with a mini barn near the house, she has about a acre of property that is a yard with lots of trees, and a small garden, about 3/4 acre. She had the need of a smaller tractor to muck the stables and to maintain (mow) her pasture is about 4 acres and to till her garden.
So she takes me and my wife to the green dealer and she is interested in a John Deere 2320 that is used. I take a look at the tractor and it has 208 hours on it. I check out the tractor and everything works as it is suppose to and it is a fine machine. The JD has the FEL, and no other implements, the dealer wanted $10,900 for the tractor. The gal talks to me and I think that it is a fair deal for a green and yellow tractor. Christine tells me she does not really care for it.
We then head over to the Kubota dealer and she starts to look around, the selection of used tractors is a lot better for low hour tractors, where the Deere dealer only had the 2320, the Kubota dealer had 9 or ten good candidates. They had several BX's and several B's. One of the B-series tractors catches my eye and I walk over to as the FEL did not even have a scratch on it. I look at it closer as it had a finish mower attached to 3PH and only 69 hours on the clock. Christine ask me to test out the tractor and I find nothing wrong and it ran perfect. Everything just worked perfect.
So I tell that it is a good tractor and I show her how to operate it and she looked like a kid that just got her first car. She immediately heads over to the test sand pile that the dealer had and she was scooping up full buckets of sand then placing them in the 2nd pile like a natural. So after her fun she ask how much and starts talking price. Christine then finds out that the tractor is a consignment and that it also includes a Kubota T1770 lawn tractor for $13,500. So Christine goes over to the T1770 and tested it out on the grass in front of the dealers lot and comes back and says to the dealer lets talk. My wife and I then decide to go look at implements and leave Christine to work out the deal.
A hour later Christine is now the proud owner of a 3 year old B7610 and a 4 year old T1770.
The dealer did do a complete service to both machines and replaced the belt, and blades on the finish mower and The T1770, Christine thank my wife and me and took us to Outback steak house for dinner. I tried to pay and Christine insisted in paying for my wife's and my order. This dude knows when to shut up and let the girls work it out. Christine paid for dinner and my wife took 30 of her egg rolls over that night to Christine.
