Got my first Orange One......

Picked up this old L185 last week...Tractor runs like a watch..everything is good and adjusted..brakes, clutch, PTO, steering is tight, has 1530 hrs...Fenders are thin and rusted, also around battey box, but the rest is straight and solid. Tires weather checked, but hold air fine. Am wondering the build year...S/N is 51172. I paid 2,100...The tractor has only been used for mowing...but must have sat outside a lot...The owner I got it from serviced all filters annualy...he only put maybe 400 hrs on it total. I love this thing, the 2cyl diesel sounds great. Ordered an elbow and will convert to vertical exhaust.

I like the looks of it. Definitely not trashed like some 40+ yr old tractors you see.

I don't know enough about them to even GUESS the year but tractor data says 1977-1982

Is it a 2WD?

Did it come with any implements?

Yes sir, 2WD and no implements....I have several tractors from Antique JD and Farmall to NH Boomer with loader, also an old Oliver Super 55.... This Kubota was just for fun and it's an older simple tractor...to me a "classic" Kubota 2cylinder. I will most likely only use it to move my trailer around with a quick hitch and take for rides now and then..I do have a 72" finish mower that it might run in lighter grass...I have heard they will handle a mower that size...I mainly use the Oliver 55 for that though.

Unless you get great pleasure from gagging on diesel exhaust fumes, I would stick with your current exhaust system.

My neighbor has the same tractor with a woods belly mower under it. 72" deck it has its hands full if your not mowing weekly. Finish is pretty nice.

Agreed. I like the looks of the old square ones over the newer swoopy designs.
