You kicking the bucket?
You moving to Russia?
Moon trip?

Oh wait no... You just posted one to many political posts and got called out on it.

Bail if you choose too, but posting political post is not going to change.

The other day an OTT member accused me of being an "Alien" ...... ;)

It was good fun and I'm still here.

Won't get into this particular issue further.

Even mildly political party-neutral tractor-related posts are eventually silently removed, which creates the problem that we cannot be informed of what's going on pretty much anywhere nowadays. As politics continues to invade our lives and restricts our ability to make a living we're kept in the dark instead of being able to discuss what's going on--even on discussion forums.

I'm a member of a few forums that allow respectful discussion on politics, religion, and relationships (the big three that are usually prohibited). There are definite guidelines and if someone gets off track a managerial post is made reminding members of the guidelines, and if things continue to degrade staff copies the post into a private message, removes it from public view, and a respectful discussion takes place. After such a policy is introduced I've seen two things happen depending on the site members: 1.) Members self-regulate and demand no political discussion of other members. 2.) Members self-regulate discussions and keep things in check. It takes about six months for things to stabilize, and it works well (though at first management has an increased workload).

This is currently not one of those type of sites. Members could respectfully ask for things to change, then be respectful to other members if it does, but until that happens you're expected to follow the current rules, guidelines, and general flow of conversation.

Another thing I've noticed is many forums have petty, harsh, power-loving staff, and that tends to eventually migrate members to other sites unless the staff is replaced. Fortunately this is not one of those sites, so if you have a Kubota and find the information here useful, "go along to get along"--that's a general rule for life and this forum is no exception. Or, leave; this forum is about Kubota's, not any particular member.

Hope this helps,
Hedge

It’s good that Wolfman allows no political discussion. The acrimony among members on TBN has gotten pretty bad. All related to politics.

What is that?
It's casual, friendly conversation meant to inform, the kind decent folks like to have.

I realize it's easier to remove entire threads than reign in posts that cross a line, like it's similarly easier to take a tractor in for service than fix it oneself (in general terms), and like fixing a tractor sometimes it's better to take it due to the nature of a problem, and sometimes threads are better off Closed. Deleting a thread-in my opinion-is like scrapping a tractor where it's an extreme option.

I also realize political commentary is something some people want to escape from; if I'm reading a tractor forum do I want to be hammered in every thread with politics? No, however if a comment is about politics impacting tractoring sometimes it better discussed than not; Clarkson's Farm didn't start out being about politics, however when politics impeded progress the show covered the topic in a factual and humorous way, so there is room for politics in civil, educational, informational contexts.

I did not realize tractor guys have a problem being civil, though I'm new and members here have been awesome. I haven't been here long though, when do things change?

I’m referring to another tractor forum, not this one.
