I have a b6200. i did have a no start issue b4. But this is different.
I installed a new ignition switch a few months ago. It works fine except, the glow plugs never lit up. They did work b4. I just turned the key to the left.
i reattached all the wires right. The glow plug indicator never lights. It is a long cranking time. Several times of cranking. I was wandering how to wire the glow plugs right to the battery. Of course I would assume I would need a fuse, or a relay or both + a switch. Cause I figure that all the cranking is wearing out my battery. I just want to get them to work again. Can i use a test light to c if they work? Or what voltage would have to show on a meter ? I'm not sure how to test them. is there any write ups on it ?

Clearly something is wrong.

Buy a simple 12 volt test light at any automotive shop for about $10.

Connect the alligator clip to the battery negative.

Touch the sharp probe to the wire on each glow plug, one at a time.

When you pre heat the glow plugs, the test light should light up.

Do not connect 12 volts directly to the glow plugs.

Power to the glow plugs has to flow through the glow indicator which is a form of resistor. Unless the indicator has failed, unlikely, it sounds like power is not going to the glow plugs.

Where did the new ignition switch come from and why was it changed?

Power is feed to the glow plug 2 different ways.

In Glow position it runs from the switch to the glow indicator (coil) then to the glow plugs.

In crank position it runs from the switch straight to the glow plugs.

If your not getting power to the glow plugs in one or the other position, or either position then it will start very hard.

Sometimes the connections on the glow plug indicator will become oxidized and it won't conduct power to the glow plugs.
