Getting old(er) and the fun of it all!

Hokie...
Just built a new post and beam porch over my entry. Could not find anyone that wanted to work. Did it myself. It took a week. Used to do it for a living and would have bid 2 days labor. I am a 69 yo diabetic and have everything wrong that goes with it. Heart, vascular (3 toes gone) BP Chol, 3 major surgery's on legs.

I puttered it up, 20 degrees out racing 12 inches of snow. It came out pretty and tight. I had fun...not whining!

Slowing up can sometimes be a good thing.
Smiling, hurting, beaming with pride and making "old man noises".

For those of you that still enjoy having some "get-up & go" I hope you do! After a couple of really tough weeks in December 2015 I had my wife drive me to town and the emergency room. Spent a week in the hospital and after learning I had small cell lung cancer (SCLC) they made every accomodation so that I could be home with family last Christmas. Its amazing that I'm looking forward to spending this Christmas with my wife, kids, & grandkids again. I've been thru two different chemotherapy regimens and will receive whole brain irradiation next week. They tell me I'm almost assured to feel rotten due to fatigue side effect but I hope I'm smiling all the same as I feel truly blessed and glad to still be here. I know all of you do too.

I just read "Proof of Heaven" by Dr. Eben Alexander. I also read his follow-up "The Map of Heaven." Sure connected lots of dots for me. Takes a load of pressure off getting older.

Clay45, thoughts and prayers to you and your family my friend. I wish you well in your upcoming treatments. I was my wife's caregiver during her bout with cancer and two 18 weeks each chemo treatments. My heart goes out to anyone that endures the treatments and also to those that care for them.

By God's grace my wife is cancer free 10 years now.

Just to update on my "health"

Been on those little pills for about a week, seems to be working - and the "dizziness" is slowly going away, and I am not even a blonde!

Wanna thank all of you that PM'ed me and asked how I was doing - that means a hellva lot to me - despite 100's and 1000's of miles - people still stop what they are doing and ask how the hell are you doing!

With all the worlds problems - it is nice to know there is an ORANGE family that always seem to care!

Hope all will have an eventful xmas - and Santa is good to you!

Hope all of you are bumping along and doing well! - and those up north, keep that snow!
