Hello
Tractor is a BX2230 with 1k+ hours. Please be patient with me, I've never owned or worked on a diesel before.
My father-in-law gave me a can of diesel; some gift because I guess it was contaminated with gas. I don't know what amount of gas was in there, and I don't know what amount made it into the tractor (I know I topped it off at the end of last year but I can't remember how much it took). Dusting the mower off this season and it's hard to start, down on power and running really rough. It ran for maybe 5-10 minutes before dying on me and lead me to discover this.
I've drained the tank and taken off both fuel filters.
My next step is to put new filters on, fill up with diesel, add some 2 stroke oil for lubrication (I read it's a 5.5 gallon tank, so maybe a quart of oil in the tank before adding the diesel?). Then turn the key to run the fuel pump for 30 seconds or so; check the filters are primed; start it up and hope for the best
Did I miss something? Does it sounds like a good strategy? Like I said, I've never worked on a diesel before so any tips or help would be appreciated. Please help me save my tractor.
Thanks a lot in advance
