Gas in diesel

Hello đź‘‹

Tractor is a BX2230 with 1k+ hours. Please be patient with me, I've never owned or worked on a diesel before.

My father-in-law gave me a can of diesel; some gift because I guess it was contaminated with gas. I don't know what amount of gas was in there, and I don't know what amount made it into the tractor (I know I topped it off at the end of last year but I can't remember how much it took). Dusting the mower off this season and it's hard to start, down on power and running really rough. It ran for maybe 5-10 minutes before dying on me and lead me to discover this.

I've drained the tank and taken off both fuel filters.

My next step is to put new filters on, fill up with diesel, add some 2 stroke oil for lubrication (I read it's a 5.5 gallon tank, so maybe a quart of oil in the tank before adding the diesel?). Then turn the key to run the fuel pump for 30 seconds or so; check the filters are primed; start it up and hope for the best 🤞

Did I miss something? Does it sounds like a good strategy? Like I said, I've never worked on a diesel before so any tips or help would be appreciated. Please help me save my tractor.

Thanks a lot in advance

Skip the oil, you don't need to add anything to the mix.
Just use good fresh diesel.

If it won't fire off you may have to crack the lines going to the injectors and bleed all the bad fuel out there before it will fire off.

To do that you crack the lines here, set the throttle to high and crank the tractor for about 10 seconds take a 5 second break (this helps the starter from overheating) do it again and again about 10 times, then tighten down the injector lines and try and fire it up.

Before cracking the lines - "turn the key to run the fuel pump for 30 seconds or so; check the filters are primed; start it up" - is that good? Nothing I missed?

Try to start as is (with diesel) first

if no start then do what you said wit cracking the line nuts at the injectors

If it starts just let it run and it should smooth out and run properly
