We are always wrestling with it.

Mine last started last fall when I got new HF toolboxes. Spent more time looking for tools than doing a job, so it was time to reorganize tool storage.

Hasn't stopped yet.

Boxes, LED lighting, sheathing, subpanel for welder or generator, shelving, etc. Moved more crap more times than I care to admit....

What to heck do you guys do to store grease guns? I had a spot for 25 years where they didn't cause a mess, but its gone........

A few pics. Since I'm 6'4", I tend to hang stuff up high. The power button on my radio is at 7'6"...

I know it still looks messy, but a work in progress....

Oh, and before snow flies 5 tons of wood pellets WILL fit in there! Stack 'em 18 tiers high!!;)

For grease guns, i usually hang them off the side of the tool box on one of the grab handles on the upper box. If I accidently get grease on the side of the box, it's a quick wipe with some degreaser and a rag :D

Organization is the key.

I have moved some of my stuff seven or eight times over the last three years while doing this remodel. Trying to remember where it is now sometimes calls for, "Well... awhile back it was here and then it was there and then I moved it to..."

Good luck. At some point, its better to pull everything out of all the drawers and clean out the cases and then clean your tools as you re-locate them. Might take awhile but its the only way.

And when you get done, you can come help me!

:) Ray

Let me introduce you to my half Irish-half Italian wife!!

You think she wants her car outside when it's -22F?

Trust me, I'd hear about it!:eek::eek:

My truck stays outside, but the Kubota and its attachments stay indoors!

Thankfully, I did get most of the tools last fall when I got the new boxes.

But still, we collect so much shit (translated tools and other goodies) over 25 years..........:p

Since I use 5-6.5 tons of wood pellets each year, always need to make accommodations for them.

My garage is a seasonal reorganization all the time. ;)

Ray - maybe I could help in January and February, when your average daily temp is about 10F like here?

I won't charge for my services, as long as you don't charge me rent. Oh, I need lotsa food and beer, too.....:p

If It was me, I would dedicate the wall with the BBQ and FEL a full length pallet racking setup like costco. Pallet racking can be bought on craigslist dirt cheap. It a great organizational system because it's open. When you start storing in cabinets, stuff is out of site and out of mind.

For your grease guns, you could do something out of PVC like this, or vertical.

First off the wall where the window is,, you need a 60incher flat screen over the window, this is of course for your educational tapes you will be viewing

Secondly there needs to be a cooling unit so when the doors are closed you can,, ahhhh,, work in comfort, and not be stressed by external heating problems

Third, also a fridge for chilling your favorite ahhh flavored water.. A man must keep him self hydrated if he is to work to his fullest potential

Fourth.. of course you will need some sort of seating accouterments. SO when your friends come over to ahumm help you, they can sit with you and discuss the problems you might be having with your current projects.

Your welcome I do my best to help my brothers in orange :D

As usual, thanks Skeets!

The garage has 2 freezers and another refrigerator. I'm good for chillin' my favorite water variety - coff, coff.....

I'll have to work on the extra flat screen.....!:D

There is a simple solution to your problem, you need a bigger garage.:D If you double the size you will have at least 7...6...5...4 well at least 3 years with enough room.;) In three years you will need to double again as the suction created by the empty space will rapidly fill with valuable and needed items. As you get older the suction must get stronger as the empty space fills faster.:p

I agree with all of this i added a used grain bin to my storage.the circular slab was already there 4 tall metal shelves for spare parts.24x40 tarp shed collects all my metals for fab projects and holds my seasonal equipment.16x24 garage is under renovation.it has running water so im adding a holding tank and building a washroom.moving my lathe, brake lathes and sheet metal forming equipment into there.not often used and will be nice with good lighting.

All my grease gun related stuff goes in a large plastic tote.i have a paper towel dispenser next to my waterless hand cleaner, save used paper for wiping up after greasing.great for oil splills on floor too.

A pallet jack fits under most of my stuff, makes it easily moveable.

I have started chucking out stuff i have saved for years, pick it up, if you cant off the top think why you saved it- in the bin it goes.if you can, then use it!

Thinking of taking pictures of whats in my bins and cabinets then sticking them on the doors and ends. Saves opening and looking.

Im in my shop 40 plus hours per week, and lately i have been wanting it to be a little neater and organized.

But biggest thing for me is putting my dang tools away.i spend a little time every day cleaning up after myself.thats the biggest thing.

My grease gun is mounted on the side of a set of shelves with an old fire extingusher clamp mount hanging vertically with the hose hanging down into a coffee can mounted under it to catch any leaking grease. keeps the floor nice and clean. I do like the PVC tube idea though.

I'm thinking I could cob-up a grease gun holder using a combination of your method, but using PVC like JohnnyFBomb.....hmmmmm....

My grease gun solution is put it in a plastic bag and then hang it up.

Yesterday's project for me was sorting out music in the cave. It is a third system put together from bits and pieces hauled out of cardboard boxes.

The amp is a Quad 405 made in England. The input is from an iPod and I am still weighing up which speakers to use from my large collection of old British speakers.

Next job is to work out how to extend the range of wifi to the cave so I can listen to BBC radio streamed on the web.

I use satellite tv tuned in to my favorite music channel. I bougt a wifi extender made by amped. Couldnt grab a decent signal, slit a piece of exhaust pipe and cupped it over the extender's antenna. It now grabs a decent signal.

My stereo also connects to my phone using an ihome. I hear text messages a
Even when stereo is cranked, as well it lowers volume when i get a call. I play my music from my phone, which is on my belt. Very handy.

Johnny - - I was tickled to build a couple of those gun hangers after work!

Got home...where the hell are the short 3" PVC pieces?!?!

Dammit - pitched them out when "reorganizing."

Figgered what the hell will I EVER do with the short pieces?!?!

Got a couple caps......:mad::eek:

How did you fasten the small (1"?) pieces to side? PVC Cement hold it?
