I have a G5200H and am having some overheating problems.
I have replaced the radiator cap, thermostat, flushed the radiator 2 times, refilled with 50/50 mixture of antifreeze/coolant and blown out the radiator fins and screen.

It does not overheat quickly. I can mow for up to an hour or more even in hot weather before the gauge gets over to the hot side.
When it does get hot coolant spews from the overflow tube.

How can I check the water pump?

Any help would be appreciated. I am kind of stumped on this one.

Rim... old buddy you can blow, flush, and wash out the external fins on your radiator till you know what freezes over and guess what.... based on actual cuss'in experience it will get you squat.

Rim, expose the front face of your radiatior, set yourself a cooler of your favorite beer on the left or right sige of the tractor depending on your if you are left or right handed, and take a wire the size of a wire in a wire brush, to each air vein on the radiator. Take your time and rod it out good flushing it out with water.

Bubba.... thia will solve your problem..... and you will feel good afterwards too!

Life is good!;) Butch

Thanks Butch, sounds like good sound advice to me. I will give it a shot (or 2).
I understand the need to rod each of the fins out but am not sure of what size cooler to use. I will start out with a twelve as it sounds like tedious work.:D

Now that I have a plan in place, here's to ya.

My cooler holds a six pack.... but I have a back up supply in the fridge in my shop.:D

And yes it is a tedious job but well worth it!;)

PS.... don't do as my neighbor did on his radiator. He started using a 3500# pressure washer to "blast" the debris from between the fins....

He had to purchase a new radiator,,,, the water jet sliced through the radiator like a knife through butter...:(

My husband has a BS100 HST. I was doing him a favor today since he is out of town...towards the end of my mow I did hear the scream. it came and went. When I stopped to make sure I had diesel fuel, it screamed like CRAZY and looked to be smoking. ( I had run far away at this point.) Several hours later, it is still pretty hot.

Q: Did it overheat? Is there any way to cure the problem b/f he comes home tomorrow? Or do I just load the cooler and 'fess up?

I want to say fess up but do not even start it without a mixture of the proper50/50 antifreeze. GOOD LUCK. The whistle was probably the whistle telling you there was not any water and antifreeze in the radiator. You better fess up it wont take long to figure out.handy

Could be a real big deal but he needs to know may be something as simple as a bad radiator cap. I hope thats all .handy

Sweetie.... this is a tractor thing. Its kind of like a marriage... it only goes smoothly if you give it a little TLC once in a while.

Tell Robb it overheated and to refer to these threads. Most likely it is a clogged radiator screen or possibly dust build up in the radiator fins. In any case have Robb to check it out and be sure he refills the radiator with a 50/50 solution of antifreeze to help cool the engine.

PS.... just tell hime you wanted the lawn to look good when he got home and so he could spend more time with you.... that should work (It might for me)
