I was chasing down a slow leak and come to find out, the previous owner welded a crack in the transmission case and the weld is no longer holding. Buyer beware. It's on the right side where the 4 bolts go from the frame into the housing.

Anyone have any information the transmission? Model number as well as what would be compatible for a swap. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I went to the dealer and it looks to be serial number specific.

The part I need is $450.

To those interested, I ended up buying a G5200 the other day with 800 hours. Good little tractor, but no deck. Judging by the condition of the frame and oil pan, I am guessing the deck just rusted away.

I'm going to attempt to get my current HST welded up, but my plan B is to take the HST out of the donor.

I figured $500 for basically the HST was a screaming deal. The low hour D600, body parts, fuel pump, new rims and tires etc. are just extras. Almost a shame to use her for parts really.

You better be careful. You'll soon find another G5200 to fix up the second one, and then you're addicted!!:D:D

It's already happening.. I still want to see if the current HST can be welded. My original 5200 is a time capsule so if I have to sacrifice the parts tractor, I'll do it, but it'll be sad.

I really want to put my current deck on this tractor next spring and mow with it. She really needs ran at WOT for a few hours with fresh fuel and oil. I did an oil change and drained the old fuel yesterday and let her idle in the yard for about an hour at about medium throttle. We'll see if she starts easier next time, but I think fuel filters are in order.

The only thing that stinks with these is the constant s/n differences. We'll see how long it takes for it to bite me. The parts tractor is an '85 and my original is a '91.

Here is the info for the HYDRO unit itself ==>http://www.eaton.com/ecm/groups/public/@pub/@eaton/@hyd/documents/content/pll_1616.pdf

NOTE: The above is ONLY the hydro unit (Eaton model 11)

BTW: On my G5200, I found most of the bolts from the frame holding the hydro on loose and some were missing. Perhaps with yours, in the past, if only a couple bolts were holding the thing together, they could not handle the stress and the casting cracked.

As for info regarding replacements, I often see these for sale online as used units. The Rear-end from G4200 HST, G5200 HST or G6200 HST should all be Eaton model 11

BEWARE: Anyone who tells you they can WELD cast-iron may not be the right person for the job. The PROPER way to repair cast-iron is brazing. (Welding cast-iron melts the metal which cools into undesirable crystalline form)

In any case, the unit should be removed, disassembled (remove oil and gears) so the casting can be properly prepared by grinding so the braze-material can flow into it.
