Folks:

I have G4200 two cylinder diesel with the Z430 engine. Fuel leaks at the output flanges on top of pump. Pump repair guru says he is unable to repair due to strange fasteners there [ total of four ]. These are shown in the attached picture ; two are shown in foreground ; ignore the Allen screw also in foreground . What are these ? Is some kind special Kubota tool required for removal ? Is their a commercial Kubota pump specialist who hangs out on this Board ? I've got two Kubotas but they are so faithful I am not here often. Obliged for any help.

I really would find a different pump repair guy if he doesn't know how to remove the bolts.

Clean the plugs out of them with a pick, They will most likely be either Tamper proof allen or tamper proof torx, or even just regular allens.

Those plates serve 2 functions, one, as retainers and two, as fuel curve adjustments (used to sync the amount of output volume at each injector) of each of the delivery valves, thus you should have a bench to set and test them, this is why they have tamper proof bolts holding them.

Another method is to very carefully mark each one as to their location and exact point on the pump. ;)

Thanks , Wolfman .

Before I posted , I tried to dig out heads with a pick . I figured , maybe , heads were full of dirt . No luck ; they are manufactured just like thumbnail shows .

On close inspection , I did see the slightest knurl on the heads . How much torque is on these puppies ? Do you think they will come free with lock-grips ? If so , would like to go back in with Security Torx bolts . Web research makes plain that many Kubota pumps use Security Torx bolts .

Deeply obliged .

My eyes aren't what they used to be, but if I'm looking at 2 things in the pic, is there a slight chance they are just caps covering something underneath?

Thank you Utica and pumpguy and thanks again Wolfman .

After Utica made his suggestion , I went out to see if , despite appearances , the top was just a cap that could be pried off . Wasn’t ! Since I had an assortment of screwdrivers in my hand , I decided to dig a little more in cap . Turns out that top of each bolt is filled with lead . I dug one out completely and it turns out that bolt is Allen head . I know I am Apprentice 1 but I promise you the Allen heads are not really visible without digging out head .

Pumpguy do you work on K pumps ?

My thx to all again .

Be careful when you do this job, i had to get a new injection pump after i attempted to fix mine. You will need torx safery bits a t30 size most likely. I got mine in a set off ebay

Sorry said Utica , meant Utopia .
No problem, back in the early 60's I lived just south of Utica, NY.
Anyway for some reason the pic I was looking at was sideways so I turned it (I think) and circled the bolts I think you're talking about.
Guess they are filled for a reason, what that is except they don't want you to loosen them.
Back in the day I worked on hyper compressors running pressures up to 70,000psi. Injection pumps, no way, leaving those for someone who knows what they are doing.

Re: G4200 ; Strange Bolts Injection Pump

Thanks Sooty and Utopia .

This is way above my pay grade . If I can't rotate a thumbnail and couldn't figure out that the stuff in top of bolts was removable you guys know
that I can't work on something this technical. :D Yes , Utopia you correctly circled the bolts in question .

I'm going to send pump to Wolfman unless I find somebody relatively local who has expertise .

Deeply obliged .
