Hello,

after trying my "new" G1900 (cut the grass at an unbelievable speed, delighted) it packed in with a burst water hose after just 10 minutes. Problems were expected and this is a different story anyway.

I want to replace the paper thin fan belt. It is around the transmission drive shaft. So does the transmission or engine have to be removed to replace it? Or can the drive shaft be removed from the fan drive pulley? The work shop manual mentiones to replace the fan belt when worn (surprise, surprise) but does not mention how to go about it. Or I am simply too stupid to find it.

Could anybody please point me in the right direction?

Kind regards,
Hugo

there's a coupling on the engine pulley, 3 bolts hold it on. 12mm as I remember. Remove the 3 bolts, slide the triangle shaped coupling back, then proceed to replace fan belt. Check the u-joints on the drive shaft and check the coupling for excessive "slop"-as both will cause vibration. If the u-joints are loose and/or coupling is badly worn, pull the engine off and repair as needed.
